MPC STUDIO

Wonder whats going to be different about this one? all it say's so far is slimline

No built in audio interface, similar price to Maschine.

I would assume less nobs and maybe NO midi ports?

Can't wait for this to come out.

Wouldn't the studio version be better? I seem to recall every other studio model akai has made came with more? ( 8 out, fx, full ram...)

The Ren is described as the "flagship" so it's a safe bet the Studio will be a trimmed down version.

Im hoping for slimmed down version. I just bought maschine for its portability. i can fit it in a bag with my laptop.

the current mpc's are fuggin rocks and too phat to safely fit in a normal bag. Although I wuff my mpc2500, I was always paranoid to transport the thing.

From what I see, there are a bunch of midi plugs --- and, it appears to indeed have audio outs - maybe digital, too ---- so it might be an audio interface, too. Anyone find a nice shot of its ass? I bet I'll make my decision after closer inspection of its backside (art mimicking life?)

hope the slim line just has usb and maybe midi like machine, and is around the same size as maschine or a bit bigger but still maintaining the mpcs looks, data wheel and vintage modes.

Same here! Basically hoping for the Ren minus the interface!

I am trying to understand the name. Studio or Studio plus was usually the name designated for MPCs that had more outputs. So I am a little confused. Unless...the MPC Ren with the built in interface is the one you get when you want to travel and perform live because you don't need to carry an extra audio interface with your lap top. And the Studio version is a product that fits nicely in a studio which already has top quality AD/DA converters. And the Slimline means its just has a tad bit lower profile and take up less room to sit on top of your desk......or the Slim-line can actually be 3 more MPCs (the Slim Line)...priced to attract all potential customers $600, $450, and $300...with the final and last MPC the Fly for the iPad coming in at $150.

i got sneaky feeling the mpc studio could be the best one,

cos the mpc1k sold very well and was very popular so think akai know that the small footprint mpc is very lucrative for using with laptops live sets and obviosly looking at the success of machine.

so if they can get the mpc looking sleek as the name slimine suggests (think of a mini mpc 3000 black finish, blue backlit tilt screen)

with some rugged hardware build quality ala the korg esx /maschine/ mpc ren.

they could be onto a real winner

i really get the sense that akai entered the this contoller software hybrid to take on maschine so even though the ren is flagship they big fight and the overall success of the new mpc line may be defined by the studio model and the battle with maschine.

but they do have alot of work to do cos ni really did a great job with maschine.

I still don't get this. They did a good idea with the concept, and software but certainly not the hardware. Why do people keep saying a plastic MIDI controller that probably cost $75 to make is great. Its not. The MPD 32 is of higher build quality.
