exactly, i think what would be better is a DRUM SAMPLing/processing tutorial or faq-i.e. how to get the rawest samples and turn them out!! ya know. TWO really bangin good kick and snares with a boom bap pattern is all you need. SO really its in the quality and punch of the drums.

I know I'm late, but I did use this tutorial to learn my chopping and I can't quit, I don't even own an MPC though so i did it in FL Studio.

Yo if anyone knows. What's the name of that sample I can't put my finger on it for anything.

great post. If anyone would post a tutorial on getting the little fills, drags and flams of drum programming to sound good, it would be wicked.

It would be LAZY. It's called trial and error, use it.

yo ,the finished track with the chopped sample, would you have to clear that sample,if you were too use it, because its not the original sample. just curious.

Is there a way to do it in mpc by itself. I know that if doesn't have zones but is there a work-around? I don't have my mpc yet. It is with the ups man as I speak. Just waiting for him to get here.

There was an equation on how to do this on the 1K, if you do a search maybe you can find it. If not I'll repost the equation.

MPC 1K chopping equation...

You can do it all by knowing two things. The number of samples in the loop, and the number of sections you want. Then just do this:

length of section = length of loop in samples / number of sections

start point: (n-1)(length of section)
end point: (n)(length of section) - 1

where n = the section number (1, 2, 3, ...)


(the values posted in other peoples' posts are slightly off - this should be correct)

Length of section = 6000/3 = 2000.
start pt: (1-1)(2000)=0
end pt:(1)(2000)-1=1999

start pt: (2-1)(2000)=2000
end pt: (2)(2000)-1=3999

start point: (3-1)(2000)=4000
end pt: (3)(2000)-1=5999
0-5999=6000
