Hi!

I'm new here... and allready have a problem. I bought a mpc1000 black yesterday, in second hand. The guy told me he had never used the hd drive because it had been installed before the jjos 1. "Something should be made to make it recognizable and usable with the jjos, easy to do though." (He has bought the mpc, used it during a month, then sold me.)

Well... Not so easy, because some people (on a french forum) told me there is "nothing to do".

So, there is the facts...
1) The hdd is a 40 go hitachi travelstar (model hts424040m9at00).
2) When I put the mpc on, I hear the hdd running.
3) When I go on "load" window, I have acess to "memory card", and "internal"... :x
4) I've opened the mpc to extract, inspect and put back the hdd... Nothing wrong at first sight.

What could I do?

Thank you for your help

Paul

If possible, take out the HD and connect it to a computer (using usb casing or directly) to see that it even works as expected. Then (re)format it to fat32. Put it back to mpc and try again.

Thank you for your reply! I'll try this tomorrow... I hope this will work.

[edit] I've seen this vid where it is said: "Format your hd mode: Load or save -> wheel to hard disk -> utility tab -> do it"... Why do you think it's unavailable on my mpc?

Checking it out with a computer will rule out any hardware defects and it being wrongly formatted. Mpc isn't able to 'see' the hard drive and thus you're unable to select it atm.

Oh and if there's a jumper, try setting it as "master"

No, there is no jumper.

Well... It seems to be really bad: the mpc hdd doesn't go with the pin system of my personal computer (even though it is a ata/ide system ): the two rows are less spaced... [edit: of course, it's a 2.5!!] I'm so disappointed!

Ok, I've been to a computer shop. They told me (éafter trying it) the hdd was broken. So I'll buy another...

Thank you for your help mtc!!
