Hi all,
Solution for using NON-AKAI cd rom with mpcs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDP0vgvTL_o

There are 2 options:
1. with standard cd-rom - can not be mounted inside akai and instead of using hdd. This method requires to boot sampler with any cd inserted.
2. with slim notebook cd-rom, mounted in cd-slot same way as original cd-rom. This method requires some circuit modification inside cd-rom.

Please notice, that at this presentation I'am telling about some problems with standard pc-data with slim cd - but forgot to tell that I was using old slim dvd writer from broken notebook... So do not be discouraged, it worx!

PS. You are doing this on your own risk.

Enjoy,
Alex

Yes. In my case it is working properly with akai cds - that is all i needed.
Probably its also solution for some notebooks with broken cd/dvd drive.

You need to solder second and third pin from the side showed on video.
Dont look at pin numbers written on bcb (they are numbered in the opposite direction). Its easier to remember 1,2,3 than 47,48,49 :)

I recommend to check with multimeter for any unexpected pin connections made accidentally during soldering.
