Roger Linn only has one set of 3.10 ROMS left in stock and then they are discontinued.

What about copying the software (chips shouldn't be too hard to find)? Basically anybody with a computer and an interface to write to those type of chips could copy them i think... question is if it would be legal... probably not, since the software has a copyright.

that sucks.... I only have 2.02. Too bad I am broke. Oh well, at least I have a mint maxed out S950 with even more advanced sample features than the 3.01OS

The chips would be pretty easy to copy if you find the right person, however I doubt for a minute it's legal... however It doesn't look as if Roger linn cares anymore... otherwise he wouldn'tbe discontinuing them in the first place. I doubt theres much call for them anymore. I expect most of the people who are looking to upgrade have already done so. Afterall, the machine is over 20 years old lol.

Yes, the Mayan calender was right about 2012 being catastrophic. Who'd have thought they could predict the end of the MPC60 os way back then.

Most people got them, except for a few stragglers that didnt want to pay the 200 or so bucks.

My 2 Maxed out 60's Just went up in Value. I feel like buying the Last set of chips.

what..you gonna buy the last chips so you can keep them in a glass cabinet as a show piece

Nah...there are plenty out there with the upgraded OS. It just hoses your plans up if you already have one and wanted to upgrade, I reckon...

yeh man, luckily I copped a 60 the other week with upgraded OS, havent got my hands dirty with it yet as my studio is in the process of being moved about.

I imagine that Forat will continue to support the MPC 60 and will be able to provide the OS.

You can make "backups" of the chips and save the software files somewhere safe. It is really easy to do if you have an EEPROM writer. Maybe Roger will make the software free someday and we can just distribute copies.
