sell mpc1000 for ASR-10?

yo what up. ive been hearin alot of good things latley about the ASR-10 keyboard and i was thinkin about maybe sellin my 1000 and coppin the ASR. but ive never used one and i need some feedback on whether or not this is a good idea...any one?

this would mean i would use it for EVERYTHING, sequencing, sampling, effects and all that.

Not a good idea.....Its a good partner for an MPC but some would argue a bit of a pain on its own.

Maybe u ought to master what u have 1st then make a decsion?

the asr-10 is a very good piece of gear. Its proven and is more than capable of making beautiful music. u cant go wrong with the 1000 either.

What is wrong with people doing this and WHY? From FAR newer technology to WAY older technology, what gives with this train of
thought, has it derailed...

If you have nothing the ASR is beautiful thing.
If you already have a 1k you are going to get
your feelings hurt trading for sn ASR.
messing with an ASR10.

the reason id do thisi is becasue i really like the idea of samples on the keys and not pads. right now i use my keyboard controller instead of the pads and while i love the 1k i just feel if i dont like the sampler for its pads then why not trade it for a sampler with keys like i want u no?

WOW! That has to be one of the craziest things i have ever heard. So your saying you want a sampler for keys not its engine???? Hmmm

I wouldn't do it personally. The sequencer on the ASR10 is not very capable in comparison to the 1000. It's a great sampler and has great effects on it, but the sequencer sucks. I would keep the 1000 and save up and get a ASR10 and use the 1000 as the sequencer and the ASR as the sampler. Either that or get an ASRX Pro, which is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the ASR10, and use the 1000 to trigger that. You have to keep in mind that the ASR10 is VERY old and VERY heavy. There aren't alot of places you can go to get replacement parts and shipping is gonna be expensive as hell if you ever have to send it out to be repaired. Not every electronics repair shop will work on your ASR10 either. These are just a few things you should keep in mind before you sell the 1000. As far as using keys instead of pads, just get a keyboard that has midi control or a midi controller and plug it in to the 1000. Hope this helps you out a little.

yea but with the 1000 i then have to set up a keyboard program casue unlike the 2kxl it wont stretch the sounds across the pads like with the 16levels key. i no i sound mad lazy but to make a decent keyboard program like i wantit takes a minimum of 30 min and usually about a hr

why not one day take a few minutes outta ur busy day and make a blank program pitched like how u are talkin about. then u can just load it whenever u want.

^^^there ya go. Load the same program every time and then just change the program name. Voila!

You guys make some good points but ultimately it's all about the way you wanna work. If it's good for you then do it. Me personally, I take LOOOOOONG hours trying to make everythihng perfect. If I gotta take 3 hours to process some sounds then that's what I do cause my music will shine when I'm finished.. You more comfortable with whatever then do that.

Me, I would stick with the stronger machine, it's give me more room to breathe in different ways..

yea i did that shiit witht he program but i still gotta change things like loop on/off for each pad and the decay and shiit. thanks guys for helpin me make my decision. im gonna stick with the 1 k for now and if in a few months im still wantin the asr 10 then i think about it again.

nah u need to keep the 1000 and get the asr 10 to sample. then u can just seq with the mpc.
