2. Maschine uses up to several pages to map out banks of samples; whereas, mpc has dedicated buttons for several banks of samples per programs.
3. You others can add.....
1. I found it easy to adapt to the scenes/patterns method. Although it wasn't something I was able to figure out without reading about how to use. It's really a simple concept once you grasp it and let go of the MPC way for a sec.
2. This is the one feature that pissed me off about Maschine at first. It's a lot easier to switch to new pad banks on an MPC than it is to scroll pages of sounds on the Maschine. I give the advantage of this one to the MPC. However, this does allow you to have more than 64 sounds active in a program on Maschine, unlike an MPC where you can only have a maximum of 64 samples in a program actually assigned to pads.
Also, the MPC having the upper hand, in terms of ease of switching sample banks, totally goes out the window when a keyboard is paired with the two. With a keyboard, where you no longer have to switch banks to access all your sounds, the MPC is still limited to only 64 sounds at a time. However, with the Maschine, you can fill the whole damn keyboard up if you have enough sounds. I think the maximum is something like 108 samples. So it kinda goes both ways.
3. I don't like the way Maschine saves the kits I make. For example, I have all my drums breaks organized in a samples folder on my audio drive, which I can access through Maschine, even over my network. Cool! However, once I start truncating and chopping one of the breaks, Maschine saves the truncated pieces in the source folder of my breaks. So when I go to my breaks folder, I have a bunch of extra chunks of the original break in the folder now.
So to avoid this, I have to copy the whole break to "chopped breaks" folder I made, and then chop it. Not that big of a deal, but the fact that the MPC loads sounds into RAM means that this step is automatically done when you save it to your desired folder. The disadvantage of the MPC in this aspect is limited sample space. Not that big of a deal on Maschine, but it's just another thing you have to get used to!
