I don't think either kills the other or has more power. That's really subjective as to what the users needs are. And not everyone samples. Until one can do EVERYTHING the other can do AND MORE, neither one will be "king" IMO! 8)

*Cowbell is not for everyone. Tell your doctor what other medicines you're taking. People taking MAO inhibitors should not take Cowbell. Side effects may include decreased appetite, dry mouth, sweating, nausea, constipation, sexual side effects, tremors, sleepiness......

It's an old SNL skit w/ Christopher Walken and Will Ferrel that (believe it not) I couldn't find on youtube. Cowbell jokes are quite lame and I thought it fit in nicely with this topic. 8)

They keep taking them off of Youtube. Hard to find. But it's a classic stupid joke that always makes me laugh.

I'm quite sure they cover all bases, seeing what the comp was doing.

Maschine has the advantage of being able to browse plugin presets of all Komplete instrument or effects directly in the LCD display of the hardware controller. Having the LCD displays directly above and below the knobs and buttons that you're controlling is also key to the immediacy of the workflow instead of constantly having to glance back and forth between what you're controlling and the screen that shows you what you're controlling.

thats cool, but can it browse 3rd party plug presets as well?

Well, finally we get some balance in this Thread going on. I guess my last post was some sort of wake up call. ;)

Okay, so now, on to deconstructing the next bold statement: "MPC 1k is more powerful than Maschine". Powerful in which way?

I can definitely tell you, where MPCs are not:

FX & Routing:
I load up a KICK on my Maschine, you Load up a KICK on on your MPC 1K.

- YOU put a Comp on there and maybe an EQ… FX 1 and FX 2. Maybe 2 FX on the Master section. That's it - end of story.

- Now watch me:

On my KICK on Pad 1, I put:

- Maybe a Pulltec EQ Plugin for starters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- an API 2500 or an SSL Bus Comp… sweet!!!!
- a Gate
- and I still got a free slot for a 4th Effect

THEN I can send that kick to two other channels and send it to a Reverb maybe.
NEXT, I can Add 4(!) More Effects onto the the Group (or in MPC terms Banks), which that Pad resides in. And after that, I can still add 4 more FX on the Master Section… straight ownage ondatazz.

Plus, I got 16 virtual stereo outs. 1 for Ever pad… MPC 1K: 4+2…

Let's see how good AKAI can bite this… or better yet: let's wait til august. By then, I made like 50+ more beats ;)

a couple of years ago I walked into this one music shop we have here that I rarely frequent... anyhow, I laughed when I saw this double pedal cowbell.. it was like one from a kick drum but it had a rod with one of those synthetic molded cowbells on it.. lmao... **** tempting to get if for nothing more than a studio conversation piece.

Mistamixx wrote:Machine and logic together blows the knobs off the 1000 logic combo fam! trust me. Machine's fast work flow is why my mpc 5000 is collecting dust. tracking out of your mpc1000 is a pain compared to getting maschine's tracks into a daw.

What type of midi control modes does it have for Logic's soft synths?

Because JJOS has tight midi control modes.

My 1k is more like a glorified midi controller and sound designer. It's my MPC for software beats. I have special way of designing gritty drum breaks thru JJ's modulation matrix.could easily drag them into logic and store them as apple loops.
Logic and the 1k is my combo.

But thanks for letting me know about the Maschine's compatibility with Logic. Might have to investigate it further.

Agree..it depends on the end user.
