Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

For me personally,

Maschine was a failure. Well though concept, poorly executed. In my eyes it was just too basic. The time i gained with some workflow enhancements i lost with other workarounds for very basic things imo. Hence I'm back on the mpc 5000, since i'm not faster on Maschine and i don't like the step based sequencer.

Some of the little features i missed were things like:
-export all sounds from all groups at once
-renaming your bounce
-export to mp3
-there is no linear recording possible
-no timestretching
-no zero crossing
-a stop button/ kill all sounds button (pressing 3 times on the mpc stop button)
-you can't copy paste multiple scenes ("mpc sequences") at once
-audio tracks
-if you want to load sounds from the controller you have to tag em first, that takes ages with a 10gb + library

But what i find most awkward about it, is that the software runs on one single! core, it's 2012 lol.

Another thing i experienced was that when i was checking all the Komplete bass patches, the software crashed 3 times in half an hour (Macbook Pro 2011 2,3Ghz i5 4gb RAM).

After contacting the support service, which is great btw, and helping them, they told me the crash is normal. Maschine loads all unused patches in RAM.

So if you have one empty project, and you scrolled through like 50 Kontakt patches, then you have a big chance your ram will be full and the application will crash. They told me this is not how they designed it, but the app would still crash. They were working on it though. Crazy retarded if you ask me.

All in all, i still preferred my mpc-daw combo, which had less iritating limitations of basic things than Maschine You should consider it as a software "beatmaking" program instead of an all-in-one to go to DAW.

To each it's own, but i am selling my Maschine.

sayng that mpd 32 has a better build quality than maschine's controller is totally false.

That is not false, Its my honest opinion. The pads on Maschine are slightly better. The rest of the design? Its just an ordinary controller. I can easy to a test for chuckles. I can take Maschine and my MPD to work tomorrow and take a poll: Which product do you think cost more? I guarantee a majority would choose the MPD.

When NI updates their controller...I won't even say I told you so.

lostsun wrote:i don't like the step based sequencer.

Bit misleading since Maschine's sequencer is not just step-based.

lostsun wrote:Some of the little features i missed were things like:

You can export sounds from all scenes at once for both the entire arrangement or a loop range.

lostsun wrote:-renaming your bounce

If you're talking about exporting, you can export with the names you give them

lostsun wrote:-no timestretching

You can already timestretch in Maschine using plugins. Built-in timestretch is also coming which will be realtime and high quality unlike the ones you find on MPCs.

lostsun wrote:-no zero crossing

Maschine has DC Fix: "This removes the DC offset which may cause audible clicks at the beginning or end of the Sample."

lostsun wrote:-you can't copy paste multiple scenes ("mpc sequences") at once

You can quickly duplicate scenes.

lostsun wrote:the software runs on one single! core, it's 2012 lol.

MPC5000 can't even host plugins! It's 2012 lol.

To each his/her own but legacy MPCs can't touch Maschine when it comes to integrating with DAWs. You may have noticed Nukai has abandoned them in order to copy Maschine's approach.

....hey maschine ripped off the mpc concept...

and now akai copies maschine...

well, thats only fair....

i was really looking forward to the studio version....
and damn it, it's useless...!

at least for me.....
it would be best choice if there would be two physical ins and outs and one midi in/out.....

i got four different interfaces already.......so what?.....without real contact to the outside world it's just another toy.....

even an i pad can do better, though.....
pads?
i got pads......mpd, mpc...what i needed was a new real weapon for on the run and upfront.....small macbook air and a small, tough mpc studio that deserves this name...
would have been a killer....

renaissance is way too fad....studio is way too simple....

too bad....but sorry....i won't join this cake....

maschine is already out there....making all that presetsuckerbedroomproducers happy....but what we need is a next step ahead....not a rip off of the rip off....

Oh oh..i see i stepped on somebody's foot.

i don't like the step based sequencer.

Bit misleading since Maschine's sequencer is not just step-based.

You're right in this, i meant the pattern based sequencer..not my kinda shit.

Some of the little features i missed were things like:
-export all sounds from all groups at once

You can export sounds from all groups at once for both the entire arrangement or a loop range.

No you can't. You can export all groups at once or all sounds per group at once. You can't export all sounds of all groups at once. So if you would like to have all stems of your beat you would have to bounce it 8 times, because you have 8 groups.

-renaming your bounce

If you're talking about exporting, you can export with the names you give them

Let's say i have a project called Banger01 and i want to export it as Banger01_up i can not give the project a new name in the export window. You have to save the project first under a new name..and that is a work around for me.

-you can't copy paste multiple scenes ("mpc sequences") at once

You can quickly duplicate scenes.

Yups..duplicate a single scene.. it's impossible to duplicate 8 scenes at once p.e. or to insert multiple scenes at some point in the arrange window.

Anyways..sweet that you are defending Maschine. Like i said..i don't care what people use. On my part..use tampons & midgets to bang out heat.

What i disliked about Maschine is the fact that it should be all about workflow/integration, while i PERSONALLY missed a lot of things that are essential for integration/workflow (p.e. drag & drop more than 2 bars per pattern). And the other things i mentioned ...i couldn't wrap my head around it too.

I'm happy it works for you, it's just not for me and i pointed out essential things that i missed. Now i'm back to my tampons & midgets (these are timeless).

You're wrong. How long did you use Maschine before jumping to that assumption? Did you even read the manual? Like I said, you can definitely export as separate sounds/groups/stereo master for all scenes or for a loop range in one scene. Sounds like you're confusing dragging and dropping directly from Maschine's interface with Export.
By lostsun Thu Jan 12, 2012 9:38 pm
Dude...you really have some problems with comprehensive reading..Or you did understand me wrong..

Yes you can:

-export separate sounds per group at a time(you can not export all 16 x 8 sounds of all groups at once)
-export all groups at once (not sep. stems per group, so you're gonna get 8 stems max if you do this (because you have 8 groups)
-export the master

All in all...what you can't do is export all used sounds of all used groups at once. If you know how to, please enlighten the whole Maschine community...because many more people are waiting for it.

But you are talking about an upcoming feature that NI promised about 1-2 years ago...when MPCs have had it since the 90s regardless of what you feel about the quality. That's like you laughing at me because I am driving a hooptie but you are walking.

Well if real-time time stretch makes it to Maschine it will make it a better product for sure as this is probably the #1 feature request. With all the feedback over the years the MPC Forum has given to Akai, perhaps the MPC Ren/Studio will also have a high quality realtime time stretch in the future. But for the time being...I can be happy that the new MPCs will at least ship with offline timestretching and pitchshifting. I wouldn't want to wait 3 years for functions that has been available in products for over 15 years. C'mon son! :P

Right. I should say separate sounds/tracks of all scenes not all groups. It makes it more manageable than exporting 128 of all possible separate stems at once.

They didn't promise anything. They've made it known publicly more than once that it was on the development map emphasizing that it will be realtime timestretch. It's looking very good based on Time Machine Pro in Kontakt 5. Not surprised at all Akai couldn't take advantage of that situation with all that time.

JAH wrote: I wouldn't want to wait 3 years for functions that has been available in products for over 15 years.

 Nobody's waiting. You can already use high quality, realtime timestretch plugins in Maschine right now that are on an entirely different level than the MPC offline timestretch.

I didn't realize you could use it with Ableton......hmnnn. Gonna take another look now that I know that.

This is the default Live template that comes with Maschine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9RC0lkJsto&t=01m58s

There are more Live templates in the NI forums including ones that take advantage of control surface scripts. Maschine also comes with an excellent template that transforms it into Mackie Control.

This dude is a idiot.

I would keep an eye on this account. 4 posts and they are all about how wack the Maschine is and the MPC5k is better.

Anyone who has touched both machines would know right off the back that Maschine > MPC5k

what timestretch plugins do you recommend? I'd like to try a few.
