rookie wrote:I will take this over maschine anyday! my beloved MPC with the ability to integrate with my computer and read VST's are you kidding! plus I can still sample and have those pads and see my sequence.Thank you AKAI welcome to the 21 century  hopefully the price is compatible with maschine(though I doubt it), I'm getting one.also lets hope the OS is stable and they upgrade it continually.

So it will be able to host VST's in the software? A lot of people are claiming it won't they think it's just saying it can turn knobs on VSTs because it's a controller only. I keep saying I don't know about that, I think it host VSTs in the software from 3rd parties. a reliable source told me it host VSTs so I like that, that's real dope, so where did you get your info if you don't mind me asking?

That's not top secret. You can find it on Akai's website. It states: Record each track as an MPC drum program, Keygroup program or VST plug-in.

I never liked maschine I stayed loyal to my MPC2000xl and it holds me down had it since 2001, flimsy maschine and the sequencer I wasn't feeling. MPC hands down has the best sequencer on the planet. for software Reason has the next best sequencer to the MPC. Adding that software to it makes it easier to slide midi notes or what you recorded back and forth while editing. This is Great. Image

:D Based on what criteria?

Funny how much they lifted from Maschine's interface. It's got a tag based browser on the left and the automation pane looks suspiciously like Machine's even down to the way you add automation parameters. I guess they were desperate.

So you must know a sequencer on this planet that is better than the MPC's? My personal experience among others who say the same thing. PT, Logic, Sonar software sequencers I can't mess with Reason's sequencer Is lovely it's the closest thing to the MPC I know.

For the matter It was NI who stole from MPC so I guess they are returning the favor!

Except that NI actually innovated and brought a paradigm shifting game changer instead of just copying the concept of MPCs as standalone hardware as they have always been. It turned out to be a groundbreaking success and forced Akai to abandon hardware MPCs and just copy Maschine's approach instead of bringing something new to the table like a true hybrid that can be standalone hardware as well as software for example.

hey guys, are you guys talking about the 4x4 layout of the pads when referring to NI copying the mpc? because akai wasn't the first one to do that I dont think if so.

You are seriously mistaken sir. Have you seen the MV-8880s automation parameters? Of course you haven't. They look exactly like the MPC Ren and Maschine. Tag browsers? Are you kidding me? How long has non-music related software being doing that....Know your history.....C'mon son.

MPCs have been sampling and chopping samples since the 90s. 4x4 pads with pad banks and note repeat since the 80s.

Please don't talk about original designs. It is pointless.

Exactly...there are many examples. emptysea needs to come back and apologize for such statements.

I hardly think they stole NI's approach to go computer base. I am sure Akai thought about it they just didn't jump the gun. Another company saw a field wide open and took it, that's all. Akai is doing it to catch up that's all, everything has went mostly computer so Akai is trying to do the same. So that simple paradigm you're talking about is going software, lets not get fancy with the semantics.

Great point! Reason also has the same exact automation window! So does Pro Tools (for midi editing), and probably every other production software!
