well best buy had two 64 gig drives for 99 bucks last week... and two 128 gig drives for 200 bucks... our prices are higher than in the USA.. not sure if they would work in the mpc, however my point is.... glad to see them becoming cheaper because back when a 32 gig drive was 300 bucks I shrugged the idea of ever going that route until they became reasonable in price.

iwent through the bullshit save/create folder crashes on akais **** up os... god knows how that thing made it passed the production line.... i mean really wakai???

I only paid 40 quid for the hd and sold it for 60 so I am not worried about that

I prefer using an cf card and my macs hd

The funny thing is that I dug all my drums on the 2000xl and lost them when it died. The wav files were just to get me going until I had time to chop again

Anyway the cf card is working with no problems. Got an 8gb one on it's way

Been using an s-950 & my aphex 104 for resampling... This makes up for the 2500's lack of character.

which version of jjos are you using? i have a 160 gig hd on my jjos wiht jj 2xl v 2.22 and it works stable as anything.

For a back up i picked up a 40gig

Some say the 40 is better then the 80
Can anyone give me the 100 on this topic?

I was thinking why not start fresh and put in the new one out the box.......reason for not doin.......i dont no if i will lose the software or if it will mess anything Up. Any advice would be cool

Changing your hd will not cause any problems with your software as the software is saved on the internal rom of the mpc, you upgrade software by loading it internally from a cf card.
If you use a 60gb or a 40gb hd it shouldn't really make any difference.

The problems only crop up with bad wav files or problematic hd types.

i personally wouldn't go any bigger than a 80 or 120 gb hard drive...

but the original poster's issue is pretty simple. these issues occur when you save projects and programs under one os... and then change os's and try to open and save the same stuff again (on a different os).. you probably have all these different stuff saved on your flash card or hard drive that you saved on different versions of akai OS, and jj os's... it becomes totally buggy and acts all fugged up. so dump/reformat your hard drive and flash card... put your little drum sample folder back on... and stick with the os you wanna use. just don't hate on the 2500. the thing is the shtt.

so the question in more detain would be....when i import some files! there just high pitch ..... anyone no if that would be the audio? hard drive? or somethin else

where is the high pitch exactly coming from?
