my first reaction is, you need a mixer because you are talking about a complex routing setup.

then from looking at the tiny ass pics you posted, i am wondering if your receiver might not be able to do it as it looks like it has a ton of ins and outs.

take a picture of the front panel. ALL the controls. DO NOT SHRINK THIS PICTURE DOWN. for some reason you have a habit of picking the most useful picture and shrinking it down to obscurity. please dont do that - if anybody is going to look at your stuff they need a big picture.

take a picture of all the connectors on the back panel - anything with an rca jack. i think you've already provided this but just so we are sure (the first one you posted was worthlessly tiny).

now, the irony here is that we are all going to be guessing and telling you plug a into b, try it. now plug b in to c, try it. the thing is it doesn't happen until YOU try it ... which you could probably do on your own. however since you insist, and i like a challenge, bring on some usable pics and we'll get down to business.

ok i got it hooked up. turns out the tape out advice actually was correct i just wired it wrong. i dont think i can play the vinyl without having the mpc on, but thats fine. the mpc makes the work flow smooth .

if you still want the challenge of figuring out how to hook it up so i can use the vinyl player without having the mpc on that id be cool to know but im pretty happy with the set up.

ok so the thing that intrigues me on your receiver is the 'ext pros' section and the tape section.

this will work best if you think of your mpc like a tape deck, and use it that same way.

hook your turntable up to your receiver like normal (that's on phono1).
now hook the tape out of your receiver to the record in on the mpc.
now hook the mpc output to the tape input on your receiver.
set your source to phono1.
under the tape section, make sure the first three buttons are OUT (so its set on SOURCE, TAPE1, SOURCE).
now you have to do some tests - i'm starting to guess here.
1) can you hear the turntable through the speakers?
2) put your mpc into sample mode - can you see the turntable signal coming through to the mpc - or can you hear it if you plug your headphones into your mpc (basically, is the turntable getting sent through the tape output to the mpc)?
3) now change first button under the tape section to 'MONITOR'. can you still hear the turntable? if you turn down the main volume on your mpc, does the signal coming out of the speakers go down too? (basically, does MONITOR allow you to hear your mpc?)

if that all works, then bam, there you go. you can use the system like normal, and when you want to use your mpc, simply set the first button under tape section to MONITOR (to 'monitor' your 'tape deck', get it? remember, your mpc is just a digital tape deck).

if that doesn't work - i dont know maybe you can make it work with that EXT PROS but i am unsure what that is for.

edit: looking at your picture, you've got one tape out connected to the left and the other tape out connected to the right - that is not correct just use tape1 and just use phono1. do the same for tape in...use only tape1.

Hey, Omar, you could buy my all black customised MPC1000 for between £500 - £550. Is immaculate and has the official Akai Ram upgrade. I put extra soft black pads in the unit which came over from MPCStuff in the US. All dials and buttons are black, apart from the Tap Tempo which I purposely left white for contrast.

Nice little box in every regard.
