Where to get replacement tact switches in the UK - my findin

A couple of the buttons on my MPC 1000 (especially the down arrow) are getting a bit sticky so I've been trying to source replacements. The actual switch under the small buttons is what goes and its called a tact (or tactile) switch. You might find this info useful.

The part number in the MPC 1000 Service Manual is SKHHAM004A.

You can get if it through:

Maplins do switches at £1.14 each they are called 'Switch 12F'. These Maplin ones are not made by ALPS (who make the others) but the specs are identical. Make sure you get the right size.

Maplins seem expensive but not if you only want 10 of 'em.

I've gone to Maplin previously and have to agree, their prices are rarely that competitive for anything. But they do let you buy individual components. They also offer student discount too, so when you graduate make sure you keep your NUS card.

p.s. The Maplin order code is KR89 - that is the 6mm by 6mm one with a 5mm stem height.

I've ended up buying a load from mouser. I'm selling the ones I don't need on eBay at £5 for 10 switches. I can verify they work cos I successfully put 10 in my MPC 1K yesterday. Very satisfying it was too!
