Does anybody know if its possible to share program files and sequences between mpcs and maschine?

I know they can share wav. files and stuff, but i want to send the mpc beats to a maschine and be able to alter the progam etc etc...

yes ,yes and yes.

me and a friend are making beats and i have an mpc1000 and he has maschine...i was wanting to exchange beats so we could work on the same tunes seperately as we live in different countries.

we have tried it already but it never worked, just thought somebody may have a solution.

Nah, they are two different companies, it won't work at all.

but just the program wont work if you need the sequences and chops with alternate loop setting, efx ect. on it.

you could kinda work around it if you show him how to rebuild the sequences on maschine, or even send audio files and he can rebuild them from there.

but if your looping stuff, i dont know how you can get that so exact really.

maybe if you match up the numbers on each sample, that is if they both use the same grid of numbers.

hope this helps.

This thread already feels like a MPC Renaissance commercial.

"Tired of hassling with MPC files to work on your Maschine? Well, get the new MPC Ren!"

If it can read programs, I'm surprised MAschine can't also load up project files and associated sequences. I assume an ALL file is basically a bunch of standard MIDI files with some extra MPC data inside. And a PRJ project file is actually just a text file that lists all files associated with a project (open one up in a text editor to see).

There's going to be a lot of stuff that has to be ignored, but I would have thought the 'meat and potatoes' of an MPC Project could be moved over without too much hassle for NI's coders.

ok thanks, i will look into it, im no computer wizkid or anything but if its simple enough i might just be able to get it to work somehow.

i had a look and theres nothing that i can find in the files that would be of use...the project file might be the file i need but it wont open in text editor as it seems to be some crazy sort of program type.

Did you try any of the other files, which ones work and which ones don't?

i tried all the files that werent samples: the project file (which for some reason is labelled in my computer as a drawing file?) allseq&songs.ALL file, the program.PGM file and the project.PRJ file. They dont really tell much when opened in text editor, just a few lines, nothing that would indicate that it would do anything useful.

I sent my friend a zip file of the allseq&songs.ALL file that the mpc saves, i dont know how you open stuff in maschine or how he tried it but he said it wouldnt do anything apart from play the .wav sample files in the folder.

is there a certain way to do this other than just trying to open the file in a normal way and can the mpc open a maschine file?

thanks again.
