This is what Akai *SHOULD* have done

Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I've actually used that model trackball before :oops:

Hope to hell a trackball like the old school arcade centipede isn't implemented.

Nope, no trackballs on my mpc either, I vote no, no way, can't happen :lol:

thinking back when i owned my mpc4k, i used AK.Sys only a handful of times. my reasoning was because I didnt really use the computer for sounds, no vst instruments or anything like that for me, just tracking out. I used my keyboards and sampled everything from vinyl.

So my guess is maybe it was a tad too early for people? Not sure if people where all about managing thier samples on thier computer like they are now. dunno, maybe im wrong.

This lets you know how old the tech was.

No, trackball is not good ON an mpc, but good for computer I think.

After reading this thread, I am glad that some of you don't work for Akai. I would never buy an MPC designed the way you guys are suggesting.

I've been using Apple's Magic Trackpad since I got my Mac, and I can't see me ever going back to using a mouse. In fact using a mouse just feels cumbersome to me now! It's not everyone's cup of tea, and it's no faster to use, but I feel much more connected to the computer.

If Steinberg can see fit to include more multitouch goodies in Cubase, I'll be a happy man! 8)

I thought I was alone with that mouse. I've had it for years in my studio setup and I have to agree I can never go back to using a normal mouse when working in Logic and with my VST's. That mouse just gives me a strange sense of complete control.

If you're like me Lampdog you'll be so used to it that you can throw that ball around and it lands up exactly where you intended it to. I rarely drag the ball, I usually give it a nice flick and it ends up where I want it.

I used to see it in a lot of studios and never understood why they used it, but it really does add to the workflow imho.

haha, been using that track ball for years as well... the buttons got a bit worn (or so I thought) but after opening it up, you can clean it and put a bit of lubricant in the buttons' hinges to fix it back up like new.

The only complaint is the lack of a scroll wheel (not sure where they would put it that would make sense) however I get by fine..

the reason I like it is you dont need to reserve 8 square inches for a mouse... it works all the same where ever you can fit it in when the work table gets cluttered.

Had one of those Logitech Trackball thingies years ago... liked it a lot. Are they still available? I'd love to find a new one!
