Wow...that is just unbelievable man.

That's hot.

It's like perfect in every single way...

Its like every MPC..beat makers dream

There is no comparison

It would be no problem having a fligh case and carrying this around...its still very light....its perfect man.

You can take all the other controllers and get rid of them

What ever you could imagine....you could do with an MPC..you've actually done it..so dope...congrats

I dont know.. there is something about the way those types of videos are made that make these "professional" producers look like they have never seen sh!t in the music making world.... it's hard to explain.. but it's like... I could expect that reaction of these types of guys if this was filmed 10 years ago... but they were so mind blown as if they never used music gear before or something O.o... I dont know if it's them or is it because of the way the footage was cut and pasted? I dont know... but this video did nothing educational for the product... this video was a service for the fanboys IMO.

I don't believe it was meant to be educational. The "fanboys" are going to buy it regardless...this advertisement is to generate a buzz...and its working. The "haterboys" are going into overdrive with each video release.

that worked out pretty well for the beat kangs!

truth be told, i'd have loved this MPC to have improved on both the maschine and the recent MPC's . I'd have loved an mpc2500/1000 type unit that had USB audio streaming for tracking and fx, and software/hardware integration that works in both directions. (e.g. with the right software and midi to & from the MPC buttons). At first glance when i saw the 'standalone' i was genuinely excited.

If you do a video which looks like the people don't even have a real machine to play with, it makes people question your integrity. That or it makes you think that they consider consumers too stupid to notice. Admire the marketing "hustle" if you must, but if i spend £800 i want to trust he company that recieves it. I'll happily retract my suspicions if it turns out there was an MPC ren in that room. I'd also love if they develop this line further and do a standalone version.

True...imagine seeing a bunch of professional live sound guys jizz in their britches over a new Yamaha board... Wouldn't happen like that.

well maybe, either way... fanboy or super hater... neither side is objective to the product at hand and so far none of the videos are saying anything valuable about the product.

Just because one or more individuals would like a particular product doesn't mean it should be made. Some things are just not cost effective to produce. Besides, before the MPC Ren was announced, very few people were talking about hybrid products that can operate alone or with a computer. Most of the people in this forum were happy with the tool of their choice, those that were not moved to products like Maschine. Then there are those that don't use an MPC or Maschine and prefer keyboard/pad controllers with their software of choice. I see the new MPC series as having something all these users will be attracted to.

Commericals didn't destroy the BeatThang. Oustide of these forums, most people didn't even see their commericals. Beat Thang was vaporware for quite a long time. Those that were making it took on more than they could handle. It was a failure before it even hit the markets. You can't even find the product at the largest online retailers of music production equipment. Akai is an established company and has a well known brand. For 25 years they have been bringing MPCs to the market place when other companies creating similar products have came and went. MV-8800 was the closest any company has came to a hybrid drum maschine. Two versions, 5-6 years on the market...and now discontinued.

....so why didn't Akai show the MPC Ren in the videos? If it was to generate more buzz (good or bad)...its working....

...I think you have hit the nail on the head, D ! New product is always to be welcomed if it brings something new to the table which ultimately benefits the user in a way previously unavailable ? In this respect, Nukai should not be attacked for trying to do this ... although it remains to be seen if this unit can better what is already out there in any kind of way ? I have expressed me views about pricing, etc, but I don't attack innovation at any point. I think it is as plain as day that this 'JAH' guy is clearly a Nukai employee whose job it is to try and push the product onto the genuine MPC community and what better place than this to sound off ?! However, I think his pretentious attitude is a more than a bit off-putting at times, regardless of the sincere intent to market what they see as a great product.
Oh, and I would sincerely hope that Nukai actually bother to improve their 'after-slaes' service to a level that is actually helpful ( an unwelcomed shock that many new buyers will have if they ever have cause to refer to Nukai support !! ) ... Go tell them that, Jah ( and make yourself really useful ).
Peace. 8)

My favourite part in the video is hearing the opinions of the man who produced tunes for the likes of Blue and Allsaints. He's essentially been in retirement since about 2001. I mean really, my dad could name more relevant artists to interview.

I don't even like Maschine but come on, if you're going to pay artists to endorse your product at least get someone who is remotely useful:

Carl Craig
Mala
Deadmau5
Modeselektor

I bet N.I are sh*tting themsevles now that DJ Yesteryear of Spice Girls is fame is back on the block.

Maschine was the HUGE elephant in the room at this sausage fest. Other than the Ren not even being there in the studio, it was butt clenching the way they skirted around the issue of Akai playing catch-up with NI, and not acknowledging there's already a successful product out there that essentially does the same thing.

' and not acknowledging there's already a successful product out there that essentially does the same thing. '

Yes, this is a big part of the problem for them, Coz. With the combination of my Cubase, 1K and Maschine, there is little that anything can bring to the table to improve matters for me at the moment ( well, maybe a few more decent musical ideas ? ). Maschine is a 'beast', there is no doubting it now. Akai are going to have to reveal something so superior to NI's work to make it remotely interesting to me ... which is also part of the reason I was harking on about price - I can see no reason to go past the Maschine for an Akai if it's going to be £400 to £500 more for something that does essentially the same thing ? I think Akai will discover this for themselves soon enough and maybe this annoying 'JAH' guy will go back to Akai where he belongs - perhaps they could better use his expertise on the 'Support Help Lines', where such is definately needed ?!
