If suggested pricing is correct, I think it is still wrong !

....its just the way things are...if you live in Europe and Japan, you will pay more for these products than you would in the US. It doesn't matter which company makes the item in question. I expect to pay $200-$300 more for the MPC Ren in Japan than I would if I were in the US....so I will have it shipped from the US.

Your best bet is to go for the cheaper/free software you can find in the UK if you don't want to pay whatever price they will charge you in your local area.

Pointing fingers solves NOTHING guys. I like the concept of the ren, depending on how people review the software I may cop a studio. My musical partner(not life partner, lets avoid those jokes) has said he is definately copping the ren, strictly for the controller with shit tons of midi part. We may use it to sync to logic, who knows. But so far, not ridiculously overpriced IMO

Ok, my bottom line opinion is that this controller - for that's what it is - should not be priced way beyond what is out there already ... namely, 'Maschine'. The NI product is pretty mature now and bloody damn well good at what it does, for sure. I got my unit only recently to compliment my home studio setup, and it was a very tentative buy, if I am being honest. However, what a unit it's turned out to be !
Akai will realise very quickly if they have been greedy with their pricing, I assure you.

MPC Ren should be priced higher than Maschine. It is a much better controller and its software appears to add many features Maschine is lacking. MPC Studio...should be about the same price as Maschine...my opinions of course.

Pricing we will know shortly. Capabilities......out the gate, I am sure that the MPC Ren will do things that its competitors can't.

if you want to blow the compeition out of the ater, then do it properly, Nukai ! Price the units in a very appealing way and as demand begins to outsrip supply, push you units price up at that point. Don't dive into the marlet with a greedy attitude, though !!

It's because the Ren has a built in audio interface which the Maschine does not.

So take it from the perspective of a person who has nothing but a computer (US pricing here).
Maschine ($599) + Mbox3 ($549) = $1149
MPC Ren ($800-1000) + Nothing ($0) = $800-1000


I used Mbox3 because it's the closest thing I could think of to an interface comparable to what's in the Ren. But you can substitute it for whatever comparable interface you like. I think it's still pretty even.

The MPC Studio is more comparable to Maschine (not the Mikro). Therefore it's fair to be priced around the same.

totally agree, the launch is even better than i thought... maybe akai is really going to have a top seller here

I have Maschine sitting right in front of me. I have an MPD32 as well. I believe it is safe to say that the new controller is much better.
