MPC Ren 1299 and MPC Studio 599

what do you think about the prices?

im probably getting the studio not shure yet

$599 for the studio seems fair. the ren should come down to $999, in my opinion.

The prices sound right and pretty close to what I expected.

Individuals keep saying its only a controller..point taken. But they only thing that seperates this new MPC with an older MPC is it doesn't have a motherboard, processor, memory, hard/CF drive....all low cost parts (less than $400). As highend MPCs/MVs are in the $2000 range....$1300 is actually very cheap.

But they alwasy sell for much less than the suggested retail price. how much was the msrp on the 2500 and 5000 at first. I think the 5000 was msrp $2499 sold for $1999.

Yeah you got a point. The actual prices are really gonna put NI in a tight spot. Things are gonna get very interesting.

I thought the MSRP was $3500 for the 5000

I feel like the prices are in line with Akai's prices, but not really that exciting to me. In other words, if I'm gonna drop $1300 on a new Ren, I'd be much more stoked to get an older machine in good condition. And Studio seems in line with Akai's prices on their other controllers (MPD32 $299 - Hellooo!), but I'd rather spend my money on a maschine I think.

The only one I can see myself doing an impulse buy on, is the Fly. But I can't do that without the right ipad and I'm not upgrading for that reason alone.

This shit is WAY overpriced...THIS IS FOR A CONTROLLER PEOPLE!!! The only thing that can justify it being $1200 would be the software. If it is can compete with the big time DAWS then I would say its worth it...

I don't care if it cost $3000. New MPC? I am all over it. I joke with you but I understand your plight. If you don't feel this product is worth $1299, you can always keep using your Maschine. You just bought it...so get the most out of it. As for selling it, you won't get much for it now.

I don't know. I think the price is too high considering the amount of latency and bugs we'll find.

But...what is the latency of your current sound card? And what amount of latency is acceptable?

As far as bugs...I have never seen software that is bug free...as Windows and Mac OSX is not bug free.

Another way you can look at the price for the MPC Ren....let's say the street price for a full blown stand alone MPC is $1999. Now take out the Mother board, CPU, Ram, hard drive, and CF drive and you are left with the MPC Ren with software more powerful than an MPC before it. Let's be generous and say the value of the parts removed is $700 (Intel Core i7 with 8 GB Ram, 500 GB hard drive).....subtract that from the original price...and you are left with $1299.

Never used maschine.

I just really really get the feeling LATENCY is going to be an issue with the Ren. And at $1200 that's seems unacceptable. I guess we'll see.
