MPC60 MIDI Question

First of all, sorry for my first post on here being such a beginners question but I have honestly spent hours and hours researching the relevant hardware manuals and forums on here and am losing my mind trying to figure this out. I'm starting to think that what I'm trying to achieve may be impossible.

At the moment my setup is ttables - mixer - mpc60 - mpc2000 - speakers. My plan Is to sample into the 60 and then resample into the 2000, so I still get the 60 sound but am not restricted to 13 seconds sample time and no filters. Then I want to MIDI trigger the samples from the 60 so I can still get that legendary 60 swing happening. I have a MIDI OUT(channel 1 on the 60) going to MIDI IN(channel 1 on the 2000). I have set the MIDI SYNCH settings on the 2000 as INPUT = MIDI clock, on the 60 i have set the OUTPUT = FSK24 (There were no matching inputs and outputs, is this where I'm going wrong or does it mean that the 2000 and 60 are MIDI incompatible?). I have also been into the external drum triggering options of the 60 and changed which note a certain pad triggers but no matter what one I select I just cant seem to trigger any of the samples that I have loaded on the 2000.

Can anyone confirm whether or not what I'm trying to do is possible, and If so can you please give me a shove in the right direction. Again I'm sorry for this being such a begginers question, but that's what I am at the moment.

if all you are trying to do is trigger the sounds in the 2000, then you have absolutely NO business looking at sync options ;]

are the tracks on your 60 set to output midi on the correct port + channel?
you need to make sure they are midi tracks not drum tracks (i might be wrong about that - im 2kxl).
you should also, for completeness sake, hit open window on the program name from the program edit on the 2k, and set / take note of the prog change each program is assigned - do not let these double up.
you can also, on yer 2k, hit open window down somewhere one the track (i think to the left of the track name) and set up which midi channel each track receives on.

thanks for the quick reply! yeah I've set the output channel to 1A on the 60(the MIDI cable is going from MIDI out 1(60) to MIDI in 1 (2000)) so pretty sure thats the right channel.

is there a basic midi monitor on the 2k like there is on the xl?
again, it's an open window on some midi setting down in the track area of the main screen.
do that, and make sure you are actually receiving midi from the 60 to the 2k - i mean it could be as simple as a busted cord...rule that out first.
if you are not seeing any midi action on the 2k, then its either a busted cord, or you need to spend your efforts configuring the 60 to output midi correctly.

and let me say it again, dont bother with the sync window on either machine - you are not trying to sync anything.

it would seem that the midi monitors a luxury that was left out of the 2000. And the MIDI cords brand new. So i guess I need to get the 60 outputting the right MIDI data. I'l just keep messing with the settings on the 60 and see what i can come up with.

your 2k manual page 49 is where all you need to know on that end starts.

get the 60 manual for whatever os you are using and figure that out too.

if you have anything that lets you know it is receiving midi, it would be wise to try that to make sure the 60 is outputting.
