I don't even own 5k and I'm still really curious to see how this will play out. My faith in future Akai MPC OS upgrades is lost for good if this doesn't happen.

@high198: JJOS for 1k doesn't meet your feature requirements?

To be honest... The 1k has been in its box for over 3 years now. I purchased it in March 08 then got a 5k 4 months later and never touched the 1k again....lol. The 1k and JJOS is cool, but The 5k sounds a lot better to me plus the synth is underrated.

I agree with you waiting to see how this plays out. If they upgrade the 5k, it will give me a little more confidence in Akai continuing support of their products. Then I would most likely replace my Maschine with a MPC studio. If not, as much as I luv my 5k. The convenience of Maschine overrides the better sounding 5k.

While I was typing this. Akai Pro tweeted that all stand alone MPCs will receive updates. No date or time frame was given..... trying to find out more.

An update would be nice and I would surely welcome it but if it dont happen I aint gonna burn my 5k at the stake. It works just fine for me. I'm good.

All stand alone MPCs?

As this update is 'across the range' I suspect the it's related to integrating the hardware MPC's with the new software, rather than anything more radical. Being a 5000 user I'm hoping to be proved wrong however.

IDK Ill-Green. I dont think we should have to pay for any updates no matter who gets the check... JJ or otherwise. I do think that Akai and JJ should at very least work together on subsequent Akai sanctioned releases of the OS. That would be win win for everyone. Akai pleases customers, customers get powerful os updates, JJ gets paid from Akai.
