2000xl zip load os

Hi deapite this showing as my first post, ive used these forums for yeaes and couldnt remember my id. i have recently bought a 2000 xl barebones with just a disc drive in it. which really just loads the os.now ive installed the zip drive and it appears to be working. but the problem im having is that i cant seem to get the os to load from zip disc. i believe that its a format issue. ive dragged rhe 2000xl bin file to the zip disc but just doesnt read it. Does the zip disc need to be a certain format as i put the disc drive that has the os on it and windows wont read it. can anyone advise me what i need to do to get the os loading from zip? Also i apologise for the poor wording and layout, ive done all this from my phone. and also i have tried searching this forum and google and cant seem to find ant similar problems which suggests i might have overlooked something. manythanks

Do you have an MPC2000 or an MPC2000 XL? As far as i know, with the XL the OS doesn't need to load every time the machine is booting up. It's stored within the machine. Your post sounds like you have just the 2000 (where you need to load the OS every time you boot up the machine), not the XL.

Does the MPC recognize the Zip-drive? Can you access it on the MPC in the load screen and are you able to browse the files on the Zip-disk?

Yes this is very odd cause its a 2000xl and does have to load the os. lets just say it says insert disk if the disk is not in ? Any idea.
