the rep says they are open to the idea of making the mpc ren/studio backwards compatable with jjos if they were to obtain the source code for it.

i could see this being very lucrative for both parties if akai were to implement this. i really hope jj would be open to something like this. IMO that would be one of the best things the two parties could do.

im crossing my fingers!

He indicated that if JJ submits the program format, Akai would be open to making the Ren load JJ programs.

Saint Joe and his boy are on point.

So the 3000 and 60 modes are Emulated. (I don't have a problem with that. I have the real deal)
ASR Mode would be cool in the Other Category if they could get it close.

I use JJOS and that would be awesome if AKAI and JJ could make that happen and support all his formats, but its not mandatory for me. I would still get the Ren.

Those are not genuine MPC pads. AKAi fix that shit!

IMO the ren is a better buy than the studio. Way more features.

Which MPC pads do you consider genuine?

He doesn't have to of course. But then users can't load their JJ OS files into the MPC Ren/Studio.

money! same reasons he sales the jjos. get money. if the offer is right i can see it happening. he used to work for them so this is not entirely impossible. If my old job called me and said we want to buy your stuff... name your price. i would write my own check and call it one. could be the start of a long term working relationship like Roger Linn had with them. good stuff.

^^^this

i think it could be very lucrative for both of them if they worked together again. and it would also be good for us.

This is a major opportunity for the JJOS and JJ and Akai to work together again. If I was JJ, I would email them the code right away.

I wouldn't email anything until a legally binding contract was agreed upon, signed and notarized with a large sum of money in my paypal account in advance.

So when companies make samplers that can load other companies formats, do they have to pay a fee?

Maschine can load MPC programs and have MPC emulations on board...do they pay Akai a fee? Motu's Mach Five 3 can load Kontakt, Giga, EXS24 and HALion, plus legacy formats from Kurzweil, Akai, Roland, Ensoniq, Sample Cell, etc. Does Motu have to pay a fee to all these companies?

JJ OS programs may not be compatible as it has features that are not available in Akai MPCs. If I was running a business like Akai, I would tell any manufacturer that if they provide the specs/source code for their programs, I will make my products compatible. Otherwise, I would tell the 3rd party companies to allow their products to Export in MPC program format as the MPC Ren/Studio supports those formats. This is how I see development happening.
