No Audio Tracks!!!,....What??

Akai,I hope you guys are listening,and I know we got several months before these hit the streets but please,please,....PLEASE!!,don't release this without audio tracking capablity
that IMO would be a HUGE!!! mistake.

well they did say they were adding that feature... lets hope they actually do.


I am looking forward to some videos showing some actual beats being made on it.

I agree, please include all the features of the mpc-5000, audio tracks, arpeggiator, and time stretching.

In two interviews the question was asked. No audio tracks for the first release.

Perhaps OS2. Akai did state its on the road map for future development. For me, I would at least like to see continuous sample tracks for now.

In the 3 years I've owned my 2500, I have yet to use a single audio track. So this will not be a show stopper for me.

Yeah they're approaching it right. Get the basics right first, then add additional features.

Really? And this lost me, especially when your working analogue keys. Audio tracks is essential for capturing natural timing. I mean, you could go into your interface, record in your daw, track out, but then you have to track out completely and go beyond a buncha editing bullshit.

yooo sorry pples but im a 2kxl user (dont have this feature) what exactly is audio tracks used for in the mpc??????????

You don't have to track out completely, although many people do anyway in the end. It's simple to just open up pro tools, bring the MPC up on a stereo audio track and the keys on another stereo track. Have Pro Tools start play back of the MPC, and record a two track of your beat and play/record your keys at the same time. Or if you don't wanna record the beat, just set the MPC to an aux track instead so all you get is the audio pass through, and record the keys on an audio track. Then you can transfer the keys back to the mpc or keep everything in Pro Tools. The same can be done with Ren/Studio with rewire.

Or if the analog keyboard has midi, just turn the quantize off and sequence the keys with the MPC.

Basically it let's you record actual audio to a sequence track in the MPC. There is no midi. It's straight audio. So for example, you could plug up a mic and record vocals directly into your sequence as the beat plays.
