Might have to do some pad swapping if possible.

You know what, I ain't that mad at the light up pads anymore being theres a method to its madness. They actually serve a purpose and i'm kinda feeling it. AKAI actually put some thought into them. Hopefully they nail the quality of the pad to prevent premature wear and tear plus keep the genuine feel.

yeah if it werves a purpose than that is fine IMO.. maybe if there was a way to turn the brightness up/down would be cool if that is even possible with the types of lights used.

they did say the tops were silk screen printed on the prototype which might wear off after heavy use, however I wonder if that will be the way they manufacture the mass produced ones..

Nah. They said their working on better quality pads without the silkscreen. So they should be better quality on launch day.

+1 For the brightness control for the pads

okay I thought I heard them say that too but I didn't want to rewatch the whole video to double check...

I somehow just figured they might not do the screening on the final production because that would add a whole other step to the process...

In the videos made by Saint Joe (highly recommend) it was stated that sound card on the ren was needed for these filter. The studio wouldn't have this as it is dependent on a third party soundcard. I know maschine and battery has these emulations but that how it stands for now. But hey you can run battery and maschine as plugins in studio!!!!

This isn't true completely. The DAC reconstruction filters are dependent on the MPC-R's output maybe but not the entire emulation. Apparently, some of the electronic components of the MPC3000's output stage was replicated in the MPC-R's physical outputs but the actual "Vintage Mode" emulation of the MPC 3000, 60 and so forth are done via software emulation. At least that's what I garnered from this conversation in a video that was posted by another member. Here's the exact point in the conversation where the rep says it directly. The guy says they are "insert effects". So it would seem the emulation can happen on a pad to pad level, barring they have inserts points. Which means it should work on MPC-R and Studio.

Says Vintage Mode is Ren only. Probably not issue for a lot of people, but what else might be Ren only (update wise) in the future??

None the less, Ren is on my buy list.

Well then that would mean that the software for Studio is crippled as this is the same guy who says that it's software emulation in the video I posted above.

If that's the case, more than a few people will lose interest. Maybe that was just an oversight on his end because he was being questioned more aggressively in the Soundsandgear video.

I can see the debates now....

Forum Member #1: I paid half the price you paid and have all the same features.

Forum Member #2: Get out of the MPC Ren forum and go play with the other kids with your gimpy and crippled software buddy....no MPC 60 and 3000 sound for you.

Forum Member #3: I told you not to trust NuKai. They intentionally crippled the MPC Studio so it wouldn't hurt the sales of the MPC Ren

Forum Member #1: You are right. We need a 3rd party to create an OS to give us the MPC 60 and 3000 emulations.

Forum Member #4: The emulations are not authentic anyway. They sound nothing like my MPC 60 and 3000. Hardware is still king. You guys are playing with MPCs made by Fisher Price.

According to the same video and the video shot by Saint Joe the Ren has an replica outputs of the 3k with and addition of 24bit and 96khz conversion. And he stated that the 60 and S1200 modes are the software emulations using the ad converters.

Studio it has been stated many times will not have these modes.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I watched only a few videos just to see what this thing was all about and if it would peak my interests but I haven't really looked into all of the details yet.

I agree, my money too.
Been using the 4k with a Logic environment I created and a touchscreen for a few years waiting for Akai to create something better.

THis is better :)

I really am almost as excited as when I first got my MPC.

Put my 4k up for sale, time to jump :)

Just in case anyone reads this from AKAI.

Its the user interface I really care about as an MPC use NOT the features, the videos look really promising as you guys seems to understand that as an MPC user I really care about:

Ease of use
I.e. the right data wheel.
the numeric key pad
The feel of every control

I hope the Ren has a Pad duplicate button like the Maschine/mv8000
And I hope its easier to reverse a sample than on old MPCs

Please make the basic changing the sample start end, and pitch as user friendly as possible! I would be quite happy if I could flick the 16 rotaries to change the sample start point for all 16pads!, hit another button and its the end point etc.

I don't care about VSTs etc. or other features.

Just make the sampler/sequencer the easiest/fastest/most ergonomic to use ever! and I will love your product.

Exciting times
Definitely the best thing to come out of NAmm I have seen!

I understand u Haze I have had this 4k for ages and haven't felt the need to shift.

But this is the one for me, if they hadn't brought this out I would still be banging on a 4k, but I have always worried my 4k can only last for so long before dying.

This looks like it will replace what I use my 4k for.
