the ren has build quality that is on par\ with the other mpcs and better in many ways only difference is that the processing is not limited to internal chips its done using the superior processing available in the pc , this makes sense to me

+1, progression is natural.

Unfortunately so is hating, lol.

No hating here.Just knowledge of of the concept of less is more. The mpc range were proved muscle boxes with a solid sound and workflow.Like all classic hardware. They were not concerned with you emails and forum chats. Now people wanna intergrate it all and i feel your gonna lose some purity.Oh well, forward we march.Anywayz lol, nothing there yet but mist and reflections....

edit-anywayz its just a discussion.........

Because there was no email and no forums

Sorry to point this out to you..but Akai did listen to feedback from actual users:

Since its release in 1988, the MPC60 MIDI Production Center has
earned a reputation not only as the world’s greatest drum machine
but also as a powerful sequencer for those who desire an alternative
to the complexity and confusion of computer sequencers.
But over the years users asked for more: 16-bit stereo sampling,
more sample memory, enhanced sound design features, faster
sequence processing, enhanced sequence recording and editing
features, SCSI, and much more. The MPC3000 fulfills the majority
of the requests we received. And in keeping with the MPC60’s
tradition of ease of use, we have tried our best to implement these
new features in the most intuitive way possible.

So why does the MPC Ren look very similar (if not indentical) to these:

Thanks for that Jah,

Now only if Akai made this one standalone, it would be the ultimate lightweight MPC, surely they have the technology to shrink an MPC down to that size by now?

I have all the hardware MPCs I can ever want/need.

MPC 60, 60II, 3000 LE, 2000XL MCD
MPC 500
MPC 1000, 2500 - Thats still supported and powered by JJOS

I'm Ready for this new shit thats finna come out. Like JAH said, instead of putting a cpu inside the new model, they are letting you choose your own. I can dig that. Something new and different for the future.

Full hardware wise I rather have a Tempest that can sample instead of another remixed all hardware MPC from NUKAI. The classics are the best.

I live for feature requests and improving MPCs :D

After the Ren comes out and give it a spin for 100,000 miles...I certainly will be talking about my ideas for a true hybrid that works with or without a computer....

I would also by a Tempest if it supports user samples and sample editing.

no loss of purity as when working from the controller the workflow will b the same, this sounds like some purist rhetoric, understandable but this is the same mindset that did not understand maschine.

me being a current machine user i understand the magic of combining a hardware control surface with the software driving it, the shit is ace.

get with the program prolly when u use it the u'll see

what am i supposed to get?

that its a different company now, which lately has released buggy mpcs, even mpcs with crap pads, and had the cheek to charge customers for a pad upgrade?

which all of a sudden says it listens to its customers, checks out forums....but hasnt dont so with the mpc5k, the mpc500, even the mpc400 which they mentioned about fixing?

numark are milking the mpc brandname for all they can get....i guess its only business....

viewtopic.php?f=29&t=110760 you refer to a workstation, standalone, with adat ...yeah, ren looks really similar to that

viewtopic.php?f=29&t=108626 refers to a competition to the maschine....nothing wrong with that

however this issue with akai as pointed out in this topic...(108626)

>> Why don't Akai just produce a software editor for the 5k, with all the features you are talking about? If they make it VST compliant they will have another great selling point for the 5k. How hard would it be to do??

>>Aksys is so outdated.

akai seem to bring out products and then let them die a slow death......no 64 bit support for aksys....how hard would that be? I really dont care what akai decide lol......it is weird however, that a lot of people seem to have forgotten akai's lousy customer service record....I'm only judgin akai by past experience, espeically since numark bought em...I would love to be proved wrong, but i guess i just dont get it

What you are suppose to get is that Numark/Akai released an MPC which contains numerous feature requests from this forum...

From the hardware feature suggestion thread:
1. 8 pad banks
2. Improved jog wheel
3. 360 degree q-link knobs
4. Split MIDI channel and MIDI output into 2 fields
5. Improved GUI
6. Improved effects
7. Maximum use of Q-link knobs to control all parameters
8. Rex and MP3 import

And from the MPC unplugged thread
1. The entire concept is the same as the Ren

You have every right not to buy any new MPC. But that will not stop those of us that are exciting about these new products. The MPC Ren is 100% what I had in mind when I wrote those threads. Everyday my faith grows in this product and Akai. It would be nice if you too can live in MPC Ren bliss. :P

man where did it all go wrong?

you were working for akai as a beta tester.....

and then YOU came up with nearly all the ideas for akais new ren

and now youre in the dark as to the Ren, getting the same info as us from vdieos posted

Thanks...but I can't take credit. Actually we (MPC, Maschine, MV Forums) have written hundreds of feature requests over the years. I just compiled them = MPC Ren and perhaps Maschine 2.0.

as far as beta testing and being in the dark.... (shhhhhhh...I don't recall saying what I do or do not know)

Takes a long time to develope a product like this beyond the hype. How many here have actually knocked a beat out on it?I mean its only just been leaked by James Jeffery!!!last week.

Ive had two maschines actually : ]

I agree that we have plenty of older interesting models to use.Just wish they would do some work on the 5k.1 more update.I thought it was still a current model...

I no longer have a 5K but would like to see it get another update. The 5K is a beast...but does way more than what I need an MPC to do. I have a 2KXL now. I am looking to replace it with an MPC 3000 or 2500 if I can find one of them for a reasonable price.
