Chopping looks dope! The may have got a one up on Maschine with this as far as navigating chops. On Maschine, after you've already applied your chops, and you want to go back and edit a chop, you can't navigate through the banks/octaves of chops without going into the pad mode screen and scrolling through octaves. Actually, you can navigate from to different octaves of chops from the edit screen and edit them, but it's by one button presses at a time, versus Akais quick knob scrolling. And when you try to audition that pad that you wanted to go back to edit, it will audition that pad of whatever octave you're currently on.
So say I have a sample chopped into 65 slices, spanning the keyboard roll from C-2 to C2 (4 octaves). Let's say I have the pad mode currently focusing on C-2 to D#-1 (Octave 1). And let's say the sample I want to tweak the trimming of is on pad/note A1, which is in Octave 3. When I go into edit mode to retrim this sample, I can navigate to it, but it is done by pressing through either the arrow buttons or button 8 how ever many times to get to that sample. Once I am at that sample, I can tweak the trim just fine. But the second I hit the pad to audition, my tweak, it's going to jump all the way back to the chop that's on A-2 because that is the range my pad mode is focusing on. So I have to open the pad mode screen, scroll up two octaves, then close the window and audition my tweak. Doesn't really take a lot of time, but it would be some much easier if the pads banked when you scrolled through the chops. Or if they had a chop page button in the edit screen like they have in the slice screen when you first do the chops. Again, not really a big deal, but just something that could be improved.
So if Akai can nail this, that will be dope!
