I love this thread

i was organizing some old pgms on my harddrive and was pullin my hair out trying to find the unused samples when loading folders. thought there had to be a normal way of doing it but this seems to speed things up as well.

shortcut: use .PAC's to find unused samples in a program folder
version: jjos2xl3

make sure you start without any samples loaded. if the .pgm is in it's own folder with the samples load the entire folder. go to GPE and hold SHIFT + F2 to PACK the .pgm and all it's samples. head to TRIM mode and make note of which samples are leftover. if you want to keep the leftover samples, go back to GPE and hit SHIFT + F2 to UNPACK and assign unused samples to the program. repack the .pgm, then head to LOAD and delete the folder the .pgm was contained in. save the .PAC file in a PAC folder or something.

if you're going to be doing alot of .pgm's it helps to assign LOAD to the MAIN button (Hold MAIN + PAD2) , TRIM (NUMERIC + PAD6) and GPE (NUMERIC + PAD7) to the numeric button.

yall know how you can hold the MODE key while turning the data wheel to select a particular track

what was the modifier key for the "change sequence" version of this? i had it hotwired to another button on my mpc but removed the button, so i can't remember/find which one it was.

it's the NEXT SEQ button, isn't it?

i think it only works on the MAIN screen, tho. i don't have my MPC here at the moment to check.

Yeah you have to maintain next seq then move the data wheel

Is there a shortcut for selecting multiple samples to be loaded
at once. Rather having to load a long list each individually?

maybe try loading a folder, it will load everything in the folder that the mpc reads.

Here is a shortcut depending on the number of samples you have:
1.connect via usb
2.using computer,, create a sub folder for the samples you want to load
3.drag all your samples into that folder with the mouse
4.go back to mpc, load that folder.

Seems that it works with SHIFT + PLAY

Dope for GRID EDIT

SHIFT + PLAY START brings You to the first tick of the sequence, of course it won't do nothing if You are at the start, SHIFT +PLAY to the last.

press TRACK MUTE than ERASE and DO IT

I found a pretty useless shortcut

For instance for 1k users if you have assigned the shortcut to go to the grid edit mode to the NUMERIC key, if you press that same button when you're already in grid edit it will bring the bar where the cursor is located at the beginning of the graphic display.

In main screen when a bar range is set STOP + PLAYSTART will make the MPC play from bar 1

In set of the above figure, if the [PLAY START] button is pressed, it will play in order of the following bars :

In addition, if the [PLAY START] button is pressed, holding the [STOP] button, it will play in order of the following bars :

Copy sample from one pad to another.

I'm not sure if it has already been mentioned but it works in program mode, move the cursor to the sample name field, hit the pad that has the sample you want to copy, press and hold UNDO, then hit the new pad and the sample gets copied over; as long as you're pressing undo you can hit other pads (even change banks) and the sample will get copied over. I use this once in a while when I have a lot of samples in the sample list and I'm using the same sample multiple times, instead of going through the list I just copy the sample from one pad to another. This can be used to copy other settings in program mode too, for example, if the cursor is in the attack field you can copy the attack value from one pad to another, just the attack value not the sample (not as important as copying a sample but it's there if you need it).

I like that this shortcut doesn't copy all the settings to a new pad because a lot of times I just want to copy over the sample but still tweek it individually BUT there are times where it would be helpful to copy the pad completely (sample and all settings) to a new pad. Is there a shortcut for this?
