That is a picture of the MPC 2000XL you have here. That is not original. The team that put together the XL is not the team that put together the MPC 60 and 3000 (the originals).

on the xl you somehow see in my pic.

I wouldn't call the 2000 unoriginal either, because when it was released (1997) the company was still AKAI and I guess the people were nearly the same (of course, except Roger. But I dont know for sure).

The company is still Akai now. But I understand what you mean. Roger Linn had nothing to do with the MPC 2000...which was the first "affordable" MPC.

But I "guess" there is no harm in you "guessing" the rest of the story as everyone else does.

I'm watching this argument and the only thought in my mind is "if they said they took the tastes of every MPC and threw the best of them into the Ren , why not the 2K classics jog/data wheel" . Best ever IMO .

I personally just liked having the jog right there instead of hitting shift + up or down for numeric value . Plus I've noticed tact quality become sh!tier w/ every new member in the family .

I would say they became noiser. I have never had a broken data wheel on any MPC. The MPC 2000 is still the best in my opinion. The 2000XL is slightly smoother than the 5000/2500. And it is just slightly quieter.

imho the jog wheel on the 2500 is the shittiest on any piece of equipment i've ever used.

Really? I really didn't give it much thought as it worked as expected.

However, you should stop by your local GC and try out the Korg Kronos and it's data wheel. Now that is the worst data wheel I have ever seen on a highend workstation. Every MPC has a better data wheel than that.

it works, and mine hasn't broken yet....i just very dislike the feel of it. it feels like the plastic is rubbing or something, not smooth. plus the clickity clack is extra loud and its not a smooth spin if you have to spin it fast

When I work through the night and have to have the volume low, that jog wheel is really ****' annoying!
