@xparis, in the 4k the program #s started on zero which never lined up with sound modules which first patch started on 1,will this be addressed?

Definitely.

They are taking the 'old school' pretensions too far by leaving something out we've had in MPCs since 1997.

Yo!

Will the Ren be able to change the parameters, pitch, filter, timestrech etc, of a whole program at once like the 4K "ALL" or "ONE" mode?

and

Will the Ren, in chop mode, be able to have the chops independet of each other? so 1 chops end, or start point, can overlap another ones? just like they have on the Beat thang. see here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... Yso#t=244s

hope u find time to answer! peace!

1. Will VST plugin names and parameters be visible and controllable from the MPC eliminating the need to look at the computer screen?.

2. Have you incorporated the classic MPC 60/3000 'Gain Switch'? as overdriving the gain on samples added to the sound imo.

1. yes they will be shown on the hardware screen as well as in the sw.

2. yes, we have the same gain staging as the 3000. we label the switch line / mic, but it does the same thing. The original MPC3000 had a three position switch, but we went with a 2 because it was more definable, and you can get the same result by toggling high or low and adjusting the rec gain knob.

Thanks, thats great news.

Will the REN have any effects and processors based on your previous MPC's? as I find the below really useful:

MPC 2000/XL effects board
MPC 1000 Compressor, EQ
MPC 5000 synth

the effects are based on the 5000, and can be set to sound like the MPC1000 or 2000xl effects. as of now, that's what we're going with. if they dont do the job from a backwards compatibility standpoint, then we may port the old code over, but I'm not sure what would be involved in that. either way, we want to get it right.

the 5000 synth, thats an interesting idea....

unfortunately, that's not an MPC problem, per se, that's a lack of midi standard. some people use 1-128, some use 0-127, some use A11-B88. its the nature of the beast, and not something we can really "fix".

we're not leaving it out, we're just putting it on a huge 21 inch screen in front of you.

1. yes, you can select only one pad, several pads, or all pads to edit.

2. working on that. we should have a video of what we've done in a few days. engineer says it's pretty hot...

I can't say this enough. I get excited everyday. I think I spend more time in the forums and watching the new MPC videos than I do at my paying job. I am about to file my income tax return which equals my MPC Ren money....

@xparis001

thanx! sounds sweet! got some more  :D

How about mute groups? so each pad can cut the next one off in a whole program?

Will the pitchshfting and timestreching be non-destructive? or will you have to save a new file/overwrite after applied?

How about the filters for each pad? will they be just regular cutoff style filters, like most mpcs, or will you have something more of like a smal EQ? like 4 bands? that would be nice so you dont have to load up on VST eq plugs.

Im wounder about the swing function. Will u be able to hear the changes in realtime? or can u even save swing presets?

peace!

it would be cool if you could assign a knob to that and rotate it while the sequence is playing!.. so say.. you touch a pad and turn the knob so that pad is now being.. "swung" (for lack of a better word)

Here's a vote for having it on the MPC LCD screen the new way also.
