Dear Akai,

I was watching this inspirational video at work today. It made me think about the Akai brand...the new direction MPCs are heading, your marketing, the open communication in the forums, and seriously taking in feedback from your consumer base.

I believe you can accomplish something special here with these new products. Here is the inspirational video that I hope will have a positive effect on the Akai developers and testing team...as well as MPC Forum members:

This sounds like one of those confessional letters in something like Glamour magazine haha.

Really though, Akai are finally catching up to the bare minimum standard of customer service that should be available to anyone buying a product of this nature. The fact they neglected users for so long is appauling. But hey it's great that they're all open arms now they're trying to sell some new units.

Personally, I don't consider the appearance of two new users on somebody elses forum, coupled with a few videos any sort of reason to have any more faith in Akai than I have had previously. I'm glad the two guys are here, and I respect what they're attemping to do. Particularly Dan who I know comes on here in his own time.

But generally speaking they should've been doing this all along. I only hope they're here for the long run this time and not just until they've shifted their stock. I also hope they acknowledge people who have truly been keeping their brand alive... like Tutor.

I hear you, but I think you have to have some restored faith in akai. Remember, Dan has only been in his position for 3 months. So it's not like he's been the product manager for years and is just now coming around. Hopefully he can turn the company around. I think this is a good start. And the good part is Dan was previously tech support at akai. So he actually knows technical shit about the product unlike a lot of big wigs that just know the business side and collect a phat check.

Respect your opinion Hellfire but like I said mate, Akai should've been on this since day one. Afterall they've been quite happy to take people's money all that time. Also, with regards to Dan like I said in my post I definitely appreciate him taking time out to come here and it's only right that he should do so as product manager. A good start yes, but it's been a long time coming. And as I mentioned previously there are people who have kept the torch burning for them, that I hope are recognised in the not too distant future.

If you don't care for Akai and the products they make, why do you all spend ALL your time in the MPC Ren/Studio forum?

Hell yeah, exactly! Totally agree! Just saying the fact that they have brand new young blood in this position now interacting with the customers directly looks very positive for the future. I, just like you, just hope it's not until the Ren has been delivered and then these guys are no where to be found after that.

I don't use the forum via the sub-forum categories, I simply click "new posts" when I arrive and read what takes my fancy.

I care for Akai and their products, that's why I'm here supporting people like Tutor and JJ who I feel have helped the company no end despite not even working for them. I also care enough about Akai to have invested in three of their samplers in my time. Including two of their newer range before this hybrid series.

I don't care for Akai's customer service up until lately however where people like Dan have come to join in and answer our questions, which as I've now said twice I respect very much. But it's no more than users deserve.

You take every criticism of this company far too personally Jah, and you miss the point so widely. If people DIDN'T care about these products then they wouldn't be airing concerns and offering feedback.

You have forum members excited about the new products and then those that aren't. When these later individuals deliberately troll everythread, first attacking the company and the product...and then those that like the company and the product...there is something more to it than airing concerns and offering feedback.

I find it hard to believe any of these guys actually own an MPC. And if I am wrong and that they do own one (or even Maschine), I am sure that they can find something better to do with their time. There is a forum dedicated for the products they love. Why spend all this time hating?
