I completely disagree Jah, I think the forum generally is very supportive of these new machines. Even people who are still waiting on OS updates for previous models are offering constructive suggestions for features and ways to improve them generally.

There's also been a lot of thanks being aimed at the Akai guys for being here and taking notes, so I really don't think what you're saying is substantiated for the most part.

I mean name names if you think there's really an issue here, let those people defend themselves. But basically telling people to leave the board because they don't share your enthusiasm is a tad hypocritical.

To be honest I think the real issue here is that you're angry that a few people have given you some sh*t over your posts.

Really though, Akai are finally catching up to the bare minimum standard of customer service that should be available to anyone buying a product of this nature. The fact they neglected users for so long is appauling. But hey it's great that they're all open arms now they're trying to sell some new units.

Personally, I don't consider the appearance of two new users on somebody elses forum, coupled with a few videos any sort of reason to have any more faith in Akai than I have had previously. I'm glad the two guys are here, and I respect what they're attemping to do. Particularly Dan who I know comes on here in his own time.

But generally speaking they should've been doing this all along. I only hope they're here for the long run this time and not just until they've shifted their stock. I also hope they acknowledge people who have truly been keeping their brand
alive... like Tutor.
tutor should have been invited to namm.even politicians come to town, when there running for office

Look at my signature. I did that because I knew the response I would get from all the haters. In general, this forum is not supportive of any new MPC. The forum wasn't supportive of the MPC 2500 upon release...wasn't supportive of the MPC 5000 upon release..and things only calmed down here when the MPC Ren was shown at Namm. And we still have haters spending more time in these threads than anywhere else.

I will never stop hyping up these new MPCs. When you guys finally purchase one...I'll be the one asking why it took you so long to get with the program. :P

I was watching this inspirational video at work today. It made me think about the Akai brand...the new direction MPCs are heading, your marketing, the open communication in the forums, and seriously taking in feedback from your consumer base.

I believe you can accomplish something special here with these new products. Here is the inspirational video that I hope will have a positive effect on the Akai developers and testing team...as well as MPC Forum members:

JAH, you're making yourself sound like a bit of a 'muppet', mate !

Anyone who has bought an Akai MPC/MPD related product has every bloody right to express their views about both the product bought and any subsequent contact with Akai thereafter ... Stop coming up with moronic little quips and put-downs.

No wonder you were invited to piss off away from the forums before

Just be careful though! My daughter walked over to the computer to talk to me while I was reading one of Scoob's posts. And the first thing she does is pauses and asks why that girl doesn't have a bathing suit on. I said she is wearing one. Then she said "but daddy, I don't see any straps". So I had to come up with some slick shit and told her the girl was wearing a strapless bikini. She is really smart and wasn't buying it, so I had to google "strapless bikini" and showed her a bunch a pics of women wearing them. Then she says "Oooooooooh!" Not sure if she totally bought it though!

It's getting a bit rough on JAH in here.

I don't think many are, so much, Akaiphiles since they lost there S950 S3000, ASQ, MPC60/3000 days mojo. I'm kind'v indifferent about the brand when it comes to fx pedals, keyboard controllers and their other stuff. But the MPC brand that remains does matter.

JAH's youtube link alludes to the emotional thing about the MPC. It stirs something up on these forums.

Speaking for myself, for some strange reason I ended up really attached to my MPC despite the CHEAP AND NASTY TACT SWITCH PROBLEMS (ARE YOU LISTENING AKAI/NUMARK?????) and limited features when compared to DAWs. I have a fair bit of hardware about, a Mac Book & DAW, which I view as just equipment, the MPC is something other.
I don't really like using the DAW since getting the MPC.

I'm getting the impression of what JAH is trying to point out to Akai is - If it feels like Nukai is cashing in on the MPC Brand with a Maschine then then that's bad. If it feels like the MPC team are creating an extension and evolution of the MPC then that's good. And it's the feels bit, the core intention, that's making the difference.

So don't f*ck with the MPCs vibe, coz it gets emotional.

Personally, I voted for a stand alone MPC in the poll.

Have I come across as sounding a bit of a knob??

Jah's constant, relentless product-pushing is horrible.
Isn't there a forum rule for it?
"Incessant product-pushing spam" maybe?

Hmmmmm...close.

What I am saying is that I don't want Akai to think like they have in the past...which is pretty much like all other companies:

Akai Professional:
1. We make the legendary MPC line
2. MPCs have a classic/familar design, simple to use, very user friendly
3. Do you want to buy an MPC?

versus

Akai Professional:
1. We believe in challenging the status quo (DAWs). We believe in approaching the MPC line differently (MPC Ren). We believe we need to design a product that musicans want and not what we think they want (consulting producers and forum members).
2. We challenge the status quo by making a beautifully designed, robust controller....make it completely integrated with the software....make it simple to use and very user friendly (MPC Ren)
3. We just happen to make the Akai MPC...the most sought after sampling drum machine in the past 25 years.
