@ mastakilla I have the button template if you need it so you can jus give them the template on a usb drive and they can put it in there computer and get the ball rolling might make it easier jus shoot me your email and ill send it to you it's already sized so they just have to print it out

Looks good...if you do end up getting it screened, keep us posted on the process.

Depending on their method, it may be tough finding a shop that has the equipment that can print characters that small...if I remember right, the letters are about 3mm tall.

I already do, it makes my ears work better so they tend to pick out and hone in on the part of the sample i most want to use. Downfall is when i turn the light on my eyes burn up for the rest of the night.

Yea I've come across the template before. I have it from my first dream of trickin out my mp. Im off the xl and now on the 4000 but would love to do a custom job on the side. I'm in the Detroit area and I've called a dozen shops today, cannot find a reasonable price. One place told me $3 per word! Lmao i stopped counting at 100 words on the faceplate . I could live with eating a hefty set up fee if I could do future projects at a reasonable rate. Not looking good so far.

This is the major issue. Everyone is tellin me 1/4" is the minimum. They wanna do a clear vinyl sticker over the whole mp to get the lettering that small.

The vinyl sticker is what im trying to avoid there is a place around the coner that does silk screening I just found out today ima call tomorrow and see exactly if anything what they will be able to do

If they make a screen, see if you can negotiate YOU keeping the screen.

After calling 2 dozen companies in the Detroit area, i finally found a shop that thinks they can reproduce the labels at a reasonable rate. here's the email i recieved:

Hi again. Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you. We could screen print them, but to do one at a time, you are looking at $45 each, with the screen and art charges being $150. Let me know if you have any other questions.

So after a 150 set up charge, they will do one MPC cover at $45. she told me if i ran 6 on the first run, it'd be $150 for the set up fee. and then $10 for each cover only. So after the screen is burnt and paid for, it would be quite affordable to do this on the regular basis.

So who's got tips on painting???

Damn thats sounds like a great deal at 45 let alone 10 each ..crazy... and 150 isent
bad for them to make the screen as far as painting i keep comin across people that
say to take it to an auto place which sounds like a pretty good idea should not be
much at all jus put 40-50 bucks in the managers pocket and im sure the auto place
will take care of it ..buuuuut im honestly thinking about primer,krylon and
clearcoat coating it myself although the auto body paint shop seems the logical way to
go



" sidenote' krylon has bin working great on the buttons i have bin banging out on

I'm already doing 2XL repairs on the side, so if i could restore covers I would be in business. I'm down to get a spray gun and the whole 9 yards, I just haven't researched painting at all yet. But I can typically get two busted XL's for $100, and create a perfectly working unit out of the two. And flip it for $500. If I can paint, all I would need to do is buy colored pads and i would be ebaying custom joints asap.

yea mostly criagslist. You have to be that haggler guy, call on all the ads that you know are too high because guess what....? No one else is calling them, they end up accepting less money because they get no calls. Call on any and everything, you'll find people that have aquired an MPC and no nothing about it. One dude i called, his brother died, left him the unit, broken fader, i haggled him down, call me evil... idk, it's business. soldered the fader myself for like 15 bucks, had 100 knocked off the machine. I've dealt with guys who buy auctions and storage units who will take straight cash and go Looooow. Talkin about $400 on a loaded 4000. but you have to have cash on you and push them to sell it that day. If you can meet them asap, you will get the cheap deals. I've told guys i'll pay them any time any day if they decide to come down on price. Guy called me 3 weeks later and i met him and paid him that day. He needed cash, if you wait until someone has a paycheck you know.... they don't need your money as bad. It's all about being promt. But i'd never pay over 100 for a busted 2000 or XL. i wouldn't pay over 200 for a working 2000. And If i had a working 2000, i would rip the screen out anyhow. cop a XL with a broken screen for 100 and swap the screens, sell the xl for 400 or 500. that's pretty much my whole hustle as far as the XL goes. the key is to be patient. know your local market. know exactly what you can sell shit for. then you can do the math on how much you can afford to spend on a unit for parts in order to flip a profit. I basically try to just make 100 bucks on each repaired unit.

@mastakilla lmao the whole time reading that shit i was smiling i do the same shit on c-list my most proud moment came when i talked a dude done from 1300 to 650 for a motif XS 61 key keyboard in excellent condition i felt like a boss for 2 weeks after that shit dont come across alot of mpc's here in south florida when you do it always like 650 for a 2000xl and 1500 for a 2500 all because the mpc is at the hit factory like that adds value to the mp ...anyway just read your comment and had to go on a little c-list rant but yeah def. cop some great deals on there if you know what your doing wish there were some more mp's down here tho
