Ive recently been diggin in them crates and was wondering if it is possible to chop up drums and put them back together perfectly with just the mpc??

I seem to find a hot break or take apart a classic like "skull snaps" (into hats kik, snare 1 +2 etc) and when I put it back togther it has lost that certain somethin?



now I dont pretend to know a lot, but could it be the swing? how do I get my hats to swing like those on the track when quantise regiments everyting?

well, you are cutting away the silence between the hits, which isn't really silence,

also make sure your quantizing isn't interfering.

It is possible on the MPC - but once you've used Recycle, you'l realise how primitive the MPC is for this sort of stuff. Recycle not olny chops the break into hits, it adds artificial decay to stretch out the hit (hence no audio gaps) and then creates a MIDI file to recreate the loop exactly.

Once you've exported the MIDI file and chops you can recreate the loop in your MPC - I might do a tutorial about this - it's how I did all the loops in Breaks n Bass and Tripped Out Beats

Yo tutor. I've been workin with recycle too, and whnever I load up the midi file, parts of the beat are there, but not the whole beat, what gives?

The beats disappear because the MIDI file generated by Recycle starts at note 36 and runs in order (36, 37, 38, etc). The note numbers on the MPC pads unfortunately do not, they go 37, 36, 42, 82 etc. To remedy this, I have a blank program I use that has the notes re-numbered in order - I load this up before I assign anything.

I'll look into doing this tutorial ASAP
