Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Funny thread. Maschine users are not mad at these new MPCs at all. The hardware purist MPC users certainly are though. But it's great news for us Maschine users as it provides at least some kind of competition that has been seriously lacking. Of course, many Maschine users have owned MPCs and some of them like many MPC users here feel wronged by Akai not providing bug fixes and updates and generally not caring about their existing product line, making you pay to fix a design flaw, being outdone by third party OS hacks...etc.

I'm very happy to see the direction Akai is going with this although I'm not at all interested in any of them (with the possible exception of the Fly which I expect to be overpriced). I think Akai / Alesis / Numark / Ion are at their best when making controllers for the iPad/iPod Touch and should continue to innovate in that field. I'm more disappointed than anything that these new MPCs are not really bringing anything new and won't even have the level of integration that Maschine has like being able to see everything on the hardware's LCD display like waveforms.

Anyway, as far as people who hate on products by the competition, look no farther than this very forum. When Maschine first came out and people started talking about it, the haterade was flowin thick like how it's not standalone hardware and needs to be connected to a computer... Any mention of Maschine was frowned upon and mods like Clint got uppity quickly closing down threads that dare spoke the M word. That is, until Akai followed in the footsteps of NI in embracing the software/hardware integration concept.

See thats not true, akai didn't follow, they just didn't do it. Akai sleep, and NI took advantage thats all. NI did what akai should have been done, thats all. But at the same time I wonder, would akai have ever did anything about software/hardware integration if NI didn't do it first. But whatever, I know that I fell in love with my 2kxl, and my love for my 2kxl is the only thing that made me even consider the maschine. And then you find out that the grass aint greener on the other side.

NI Probably did it first as a drum machine?, but I remember owning a Roland VariOS, Korg Legacy and Nord Modular way before N.I. attempted this.

Funny you mention this because back when there was a load of Maschine threads on here you gave me constant sh*t because I said that the (then hardware only version) MPC and Maschine were very different products and shouldn't be compared.

Funny old world innit

Akai MPC 4000 and Aksys was the first software/hardware product I used back in the early 2000's. Aksys didn't do sequencing...but you could drag-n-drop audio from your computer directly to the MPC pads..do MPC program editing straight from your computer. Maschine is far from an original design. It took what Akai and other companies were already doing and expanded on it. The MPC Ren expands on it even further.

Do I think Maschine users are mad? Some of the ones that use Maschine exclusively are for multiple reasons. Some feel that a new product makes their product obsolete; this is silly. The other reason is that they know that Akai is delivering what they have been asking 2-3 years for. Individuals like myself that use Machine and MPCs are the happiest as they benefit from this competition.

Some don't care about any new product from Akai and hate for no logical reason. Some claim they are man because they want a hardware only or true standalone hybrid product...when they were never really looking for or expecting a new MPC anyway. Individuals like myself that will use the new MPC Ren and hardware MPCs are the happiest of course.

Waiting for someone else to go first. Isn't that the very definition of following.

Everything Akai is proposing is already in play with Maschine. They're not expanding anything. They are playing catch up by at least 2½ years by the time it's released and that's not counting the bugs that'll need to be addressed after 1.0. What Maschine doesn't have is an LCD that mimicks the hardware screen data.

Nah, but some folks here did act threatened based on such fears when Maschine was released.

Some people are jumping the gun a bit prematurely based on pure hype before an actual product is even finished being developed and eventually released.

But that is the same as Machine users talking about OS 1.8 or OS 2.0.

I agree some people are excited by the pure hype of the MPC Ren. And others know because they have seen the software first hand.

I think its dumb for anybody to feel threatened by a new product being released. Across these forums, people have been known to be passionate about their favorite tools...but I wouldn't say they have been threatened.

ceasi wrote:I don't understand why maschince users are so mad that akai is dropping a new product. Did the whole concept of maschine not come from the akai mpc series samplers. Didn't native instruments target mpc users with their maschine controller. I just don''t understand why they be hating, I just don't. I can honestly say that when I bought maschine, I was hoping it would be everything tht an MPC was, and it wasn't. Im quite sure people will still buy maschine, I just think that all the people that NI pulled from akai, are going back home, and there's nothing wrong with that.

LOL Let them be mad, fools! I had some tell me I should get the Maschine I told them I don't like it when I tested it GC it's flimsy and it's sequencer is not what I thought and I'd Rather stay with the MPC2000xl, I don't have time to figure maschine nor what to.

The thing what kills me with certain maschine users is they will say Akai stole from NI and I am like "EXCUSE ME WHO WAS FIRST WITH SEQUENCER AND 16 ETC?" They act like or don't know the history. Akai is not stealing anything from NI, what they are doing is going where they should of when when they made the 5000! Everything was going computer base and now Akai is finally catching up that's all.

I don't ever wanna see maschine in my presence, that MPC Ren drop I'm getting it. That is the way I always wanted it to be in the first place. First of all Akai did do the software thing before NI and NI stole from them. REmember the MPC3000 has software in it and you can attach a screen to it and software will pop up on the screen and you can edit and what not, many MPC 3000 users just don't hook up monitors to their joint to see the actual software. Now I ask you when did the 3000 come out and when did Maschine come out? hmmmmmmmmm When I bust it down like that to cats things sure did get silent lol Now Akai is on their way.

Another reason dudes are really mad at Akai is THEY GOT THE MASCHINE, PAID FOR IT, NOW AKAI IS COMING WITH WHAT THEY REALLY DESIRED SO NOW THEY ARE BITTER!!! lol I never jumped shipped, I am a MPC ride for life dude! Now watch all the cats that jump back on the boat lol It emulates the 3000 on the out puts and the 60 and will have all the MPC's Maschine aint got that lol You can record out stereo and 2 assignable tracks, into a Dat machine, digital recorder, CDRW etc, Maschine you cant do that from their hardware. You can sample from records RCA inputs into the hard ware and you have two XLR inputs for a Mic and another instrument, Maschine doesn't have that. So yeah you can record vocals right into the MPC software lol hahaha

That's why they are mad and it's like what they got is going to look corny to the MPC Ren/Studio lol lmao ctfu lol

Where are the facts to this? Akai been knew about going computer base they just didn't want to do it. As a matter of fact Akai did take it a step further where they added computer software to the MPC3000 where you could work on the 3000 if you added a monitor screen to it and you could get any VGA size monitor you wanted, and work independently without hooking up to the computer cause at one point dudes didn't trust the computer. That didn't pick up to well with buyers, but Akai in their defense did do the software thing it was in their MPC the computer chip. Go do history check on the MPC3000 and you will see. All NI did was hoped on an opportunity that any company could of done and ran with it. Now they will have SERIOUS competition !!!

What Akai should of have done to end NI's reign is have the MPC Ren able to work with a computer and WITHOUT! it would of been over for NI !!!!! Real TAlk!
