iMac VS Macbook Pro

I'm running Logic Studio flawlessly on a 2009 27" iMac 2.6ghz i5 quad core with 16GB. The RAM is a bit overkill but you never know when you'll need it and when you do its there. The iMac stays fast and I don't need an upgrade anytime soon. Loving the magic mouse and wireless keyboard.

I am a homebody so I like producing music in my bedroom. I do have a MBP with LS but this is when I'm on vacation or on the road.

Just copped a MBP 13" with an i5. I chose the i5 version because of the heat problems I've read about, which cause the fan to stay running. Noise is definitely an enemy in the studio.

I just upgraded the HDD to an SDD and have to say that it really is worth the price. Also maxed out the RAM at 8GB. This thing is FAST!

I'm coming off of a late 2008 13" MacBook, which I never had an issue with either.

I suggest going with the MBP. I also am partial to the 13" because it is lighter and more portable than the 15".

Plus, it sits on my lap most of the time, and when I am recording/mixing, I don't have it across the room. It is still within range where I can see everything clearly.

If you aint editing graphics, and have an external monitor, the 2.8 GHz 13" MBP is the way to go. Best price point to performance ratio for audio related tasks...

I used an iMac for my stuff with the 24'' screen.....it was very nice to edit and work on that machine. If you do not need portability, hands down the iMac wins. The macbook pro that I use now was only bought because the firewire port on my iMac went bad, and I needed a notebook for school. For more money than my iMac cost, I could only afford the 13'', and while I like the quality and everything, I hate actually having to edit stuff on it.....in other words it sucks.

Man....this thread is making me want to pass my current mpb onto the old lady and get myself a new one.

Imac for the stu, MBP for whenever. I love my mac book pro. I rember runnin logic 9 pro tools and maschine at the same time. But i do like all the usb plugs u get with an Imac, and there pretty.
