With respect Jeff, if people decide they want HXC they will!

If I can help people keep their samplers classic at a fraction of the normal price I will do this.

Like it or not this option is now available

1 drive = £45 with £2 shipping to the uk
Outside of uk will be £7 shipping

Pre order now accepted

I didn't talk about the HxC. This is not the subject here...
I just tell that a classical PC floppy disk drive mod can be done easily, and for almost no cost (and someone ask for this here...) :
The normal price for a new PC floppy disk drive ~£10.

In fact this is not very difficult to replace an S950 disk drive :

1-> Take any PC compatible floppy disk drive
2-> Take any Floppy cable:
- Cut wires N°10 & 14 & 16.
Connect the wire 10 (S950 side - /DS0) to the wire 14 (PC Floppy disk side -> /DRVSA).
Connect the wire 16 (S950 side - /MTRON) to the wire 10 (PC Floppy disk side -> /MOTEA).
3-> Add an 1Ko pull-up on the /RDATA lines (wire N°30) OR change R18 in the S950 by an 1Ko resistor.

Connected the PC floppy disk drive with this modified floppy cable.

That's all :wink:


I am sure that lot of people are interested by this mod ;)

You are right. Anyway such informations may be usefull for lot of people.
i will post an step by step guide to do directly do the mod on the floppy disk drive.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that floppy disk drive with jumpers probably doesn't need the wire mod ! The only needed in this case is the 1Kohm pull up on the READ DATA lines (wire/pin 30)
