MPC2000 and MPC2000XL LCD Screens

you know what would be insane? a 4" by 16" display for the 2000 classic that was built in a tilt frame that spanned the entire top edge of the classic.. with venting in the back!

I haven't even fixed MINE yet. I guess I'll do that tonight. I need some buttons and other mechanical parts, though - I broke several things while transporting the MPC so much without the lid on it.

Maybe mpcstuff can hook me up.

Didn't AKAI make some kind of outboard mixer or SFX panel that mounted to the MPC?

Didn't AKAI make some kind of outboard mixer or SFX panel that mounted to the MPC?

yesm it was the akai MFC 42 I think you are talking about.. it had some brackets that allowed the unit (19") to be mounted... always wanted one of those.

any chance you can make a vid showing installation?

what about the differences between a 2k and a 2kxl, as it would appear the assembly is completely different - one sitting in the machine and one sitting in it's own housing.

the screens do fit in the xl screen housing, right?

There is a non-structural post you have to snap off in the XL housing. It serves no other purpose and is easy to remove.

nah, I dont know about any of that... just sayin, it's an accomplishment... maybe you guys are in a business where making this happen is just another day and it's what ever... but solving the only major concern on a legendary piece of kit means something here so popping a bottle of don perignon is warranted IMO... man, for all we know **** pete rock might be one of the peeps grabbing one of those screens.

I got an email from Q-Tip (yep, ATCQ) last year asking if we were serious about our claims. That's probably the extent of my famous contacts.

We had a bottle Taittinger we were paid with by some local chef for fixing his Pioneer receiver. We drank that.

No doubt it's an accomplishment and one I'm very proud of. I'm happy to do it - and thrilled that it can save so many perfectly good machines!
