Really? News to me... that would be dope. I know they ported all of the effects over but I hadnt heard about the synth.

The slim is great. I was never able to afford a Moog of any sort until the Slim. I've really gotten a better understanding of how to program and tweak synths better since having the Moog and I've gotten better utilization out of my 5000 synth because of it. The filter is incredible. i've run the 5000 thru it to add girth and weight to it. it can be as lush and thick as it can be freaky. very nice and I havent even scratched the surface

I don't believe the MPC Ren will have a synth like the 5K upon its release. Only drum/keygroup programs, MIDI, and VST instrument tracks.

However, there are plenty of free and commericial synth VSTs on the market. Since Akai has added 16 Qlink knobs with 6 banks, you will have control of up to 96 parameters.

Yeah it seems the Ren will be easily implemented into our set ups, thanks to MIDI. I will use it with MPC1000, synths and FX racks. So all those encoders are gonna get a work out if in version two update they implement the ability to save multiple MIDI CC settings mapped out that we can switch live. One set for one synth, another set for other synth or FX ect. nice

Miko = Smaller keyboard than the Niko with less control panels other than that they are the same.

The Miko is awesome for having everything in one place and mapping the controllers to whatever you want (hopefully I can map it to the Ren if Akai permit? lol)

It's running windows 7 64 bit smoothly, I just keep a clean system and it seems to handle anything I throw at it without breaking a sweat.


I'm a mac person for the most part, but I love the idea of expanding the Miko as an when..if only there were drivers for OSX :twisted:

i got rid of all my hardware about 2 years ago currently i have a pc , maschine controller and an m-audio 25 key joint.

im looking to get a ren and a microkorg and sample the micro right into the inputs using mpc60 mode shit will sound fly.

Lately...I don't whats wrong with me. I am suppose to be finishing up these classes and getting my certification to boast my promotion board score.

But I spend more and more time playing with software (and talking about the Ren online). I didn't even open up a book this weekend and its late Sunday afternoon. Just texted my peeps to let them know I am not coming into work tomorrow. I plan on open up my books then...8 hours of studying and homework...boooooo


On a side note....I learned to type with two fingers pretty well all the time spent in this forum. I can do it without looking at the keys. lol
