take a solid kick layer it in Zone one by one (the same kick) and adjust the start point of each sample in zone, you'll hear a phazing effect, now the thing is when the zones are set to start off always at the same start point (no zone mod) the phaze is synced on every hit so it's not phazing just in a "phaze", play with the zones untill you find a phase you like (its to easy to get a phazing sound to it if you overkook it), but set it right and you kick will become much bigger (but it will sacrifice a bit of solidness due to the nature of the phaseing, thouw it though a compressor and your kickin azz
the 2nd tip
here's something called: New York Mix Trick
Take your drum tracks and send them through a buss. Compress the buss and add it back into the the mix until the compressed drums start to become audible. How much of the compressed drums you bring in is a matter of taste, do the same with a subtile distrotion and it will make your drums pump and bite quite a bit more ..
