reverb on aux question...MPC 1000 + 1402 vlz Mackie mixer

if you have say 8 sounds in your beat

1.Kick 2.Snare 3.Cl hat 4. Op hat 5. Crash cymbal 6. Bassline 7. Sample 8. Pad synth

Normally, I apply the same reverb for my percussion, but I alter how much is applied to each. So this would apply to 1-5 above.

This would take up my first Aux....BUT I have 3 sounds left, Bass, the Sample and Pad synth and I only have one Aux left......how do apply reverb for those last 3 sounds?

Im only using 2 of the Channel Inserts for my compressor, so would the only other option be to plug a 2nd reverb processor into Channel inserts? or is there an easier option?

the whole point of an aux is that you can apply different amounts of the same effect to different sources.
so you set the bassdrum aux knob at 1, the snare drum at 6, hihats at 3, etc etc.

if you want more control over the effect afterwords, route it back to a channel and forget the volume-only aux return (you can also do wicked feedback this way - or route it to your daw).

you can really do some powerful routing with those mackies.

well, i like to hear the beat as im working on it...the way that i expect it to after im done....for creative purposes more than anything. so im trying to find a way to apply these effects to my sounds in realtime LIVE.

say for instance im using the same hall reverb on my closed hats, open hats, crash cymbal, kick and snare drum, using aux 1 and then im able to apply only a certain amount to each sound. thats cool, i have no problem with this..

my problem is...i still have my bass, synth pad(s) and chopped sample left to apply reverb, effects.....but i only have 1 aux left. and i wouldnt want to apply the same effect/reverb to these sounds, like i would for my drums/percussion.

i guess it isnt possible to apply reverb for all of this at once, using only the mpc 1000 and 1402. maybe i have to upgrade my mixer for extra aux outs??

yes, you either need a mixer with as many sends as you need, or you need to use the channel sends/inserts. you will also need as many fx units (or units that can run independently such as a stuido-quad) as you want different fx.

i mean just think about this logically...
if i want one cadillac to drive on sundays, another to drive on mondays, a rolls to drive on wednesday, and a truck for friday night then i need to buy more than just the one cadillac.

my advice would be to consider opening your mind a little to what you think you 'need' and instead make what you got work. an mpc + multi outs + mackie mixer + 1 reverb is a very, very capable system.
