Will the Ren software have realtime swing adjustment ala M******e?

thats better discussed here:

Thanks for that, just scanned through the thread and I totally agree with having a realtime swing audition (with undo) feature.

The more features you can make realtime the better as interrupting the sequencer to edit can be a workflow killer imo.

Would it be possible to edit pad assigned samples while the sequencer is playing?

Andy, if Akai doesn't get to making updates for the current hardware MPC line-up like the MPC5000, 2500, 1000 and the 500, then please ask them to drop the prices at least. Everybody will come out winning.

How about the undo feature? how many times can u undo? Will there be like a pop up screen where u can see the different actions and undo in more steps? like in Cubase ?

Im very curious about the touch senstive knobs. Can u set up each knop to be touch sensitive or all they all just always touch sensitive or not?

Can u control your external midi out hardware with the knobs? and will the Ren save these settings?

And can the touch sensitivity affect any VST or MPC setting? or are they just a few?
Can I for instance affect the pitch of a sample by touching the knob? or the attack off a vst synth? or the delay time of a vst plugin?

Will u be able to customize the program, or the hardware, in any way? like keyboard shortcuts, functions u dont want, or want to see etc? skins? coulor, intensity etc of the pads?

Is there gonna be any latency compensation in the software? Like when u have alot off vsts loaded in?

Will it be able to load old AKAI format sample cds?

When will we see some more videos?!? :D

Yes, that works already. In pad assign mode and program edit.

Not ignoring you! I'll respond to this when I'm not on my phone!

No! Andy already answered this. Although it would suck to make beats through compensated audio delay, it would be a nice feature to have for after the beat is done and is being mixed. For now, I'd just rather have a way to at least monitor latency so we can know which plugins to avoid.

ok, I'm going to number these, for ease of reply:

1. there are 100 levels of undo. it's designed to be editable with a single button press. Undo or redo. continued presses cycle through. We currently dont plan on an undo list.

2. they're all touch sensitive by default. this is needed for the UI. this is used for automation recording, and when yiu touch a knob in program edit, and various other pages, it displays the value of the knob. you can laso use them to trigger effects or filters etc with the 16 qlinks on the main page by using the QLINK TRIGGER BUTTON. when that's pressed, you can set each qlink to either jump to its max or its min range by touching it. the idea is you cna do something like trigger a delay for a dub snare or something like that.

3. yes. in program edit on a midi track, you have 96 assignable controls. you can set them to any midi CC you want. this is automatable and it saves with the current project. It just occured to me that it wuld be aswesome to save presets here, so you could have, say an access virus preset or a nord lead preset or whaever... hmm.

4. not with version 1.0 but we'll be taking requests for versions above that.

5. there wont be any auto PDC in version 1.0, and honestly, im hesitant to put it in at all. if you put in a plugin like a look ahead limiter, then all of a sudden your pad playing would take a massive digger. im almost tihnking it might be best to have a display somewhere to show if a plugin is causing latency.

6. yes, provided they are readable in your computer. Mac's should be able to see all the partitions. Windows can only see the first 1 or two, but there's a 3rd party app that will let you access partitions beyond the first.

7. I'm actually heading to new york in the next week or so to shoot a video with a confidential artist. Stay tuned!

The MPC 2500 has been discontinued for some time now.

2. Cool! Im assuming u are going to be able to record the "touches" ? Is it only MIN and MAX that are going to be the velocity of the qlinks in trigger mode? cant you set it in like a smaler range?

3. It would be cool with presets. so u dont have to remap the qlinks for every new project , if ure still using the same hardware synth.

Can u save somekind of preset for the vst synths? or is it only automapping?

5. Somekind of meter would be really sweet!

Will there be any visual seqvencer on the Ren screen or just step edit?

Yeah, Dan we definitely need a way to meter latency. Compensation is nice but not really pertinent IMO in the first release. But a latency display is crucial.

But like I was saying above, compensation will be useful during the mixing process after pad playing is done. Just like after recording in pro tools, you mix and turn on ADC. If customers are stupid enough to try making a beat through a look ahead plugin, that's not really akai's fault.

change them to what? to the standard grey? no. I'm sure you'll have people making other colors options etc, but we're not gluing them down or anything.

note the legal guys will want me to say here that if you open your renaissance, you void your warranty ;)
