I come from a mentality that if I find a sample, and it has all of the pieces it already needs as a great piece of music, and I can't do anything to enhance it or add my touch, I leave it alone.
I have a few gems held hostage in my MPC for this reason. However I was going through some stuff at a friend's house and I pulled up this piece I had chpped and sequenced. He lit up and went on about how it's fire and it's ready to go as is...
Then I got to thinking about the few Hip Hop tracks that I have heard that are mostly untouched, and I thought about this recent black milk track:

I don't wanna be like "well if they do it then I can" but my sample is pretty dope I hate to have it locked up forever. Sometimes I'll get the ball rolling musically in my head many months later after I've left it alone but idk....
How do you guys feel about it?
