I'd start with checkin the format of the file and makin sure it's wav and it's 16bits 44.1khz

So mp3 is a no go i take it?

nope!, wav only with the bith depth I specified above. you can sample in mp3 by playing back on mp3 device

Would You happen to no how to delete from the memory the mpc records in on...and keep what it recorded? Is this possible?

Ay no problem you can delete samples from the trim window, or if recorded samples are assigned to a program, in program menu hit purge and that will get rid of all the samples that arent assigned to any programs, hope this answers your question

Hi guys, ive had the same issue with my mpc losing files and saying the name already exists. The ONLY way ive been able to get around this is to buy a CF to USB adapter for my computer. It a lil more steps to load and get projects going but has saved me a ton of head aches. The one i got is from kodak and it works perfectly.

Would that be the same as putting a USB cable in the mpc and dragging info to and from the cf?

not exactly.

the usb 1 is slow, for large amounts of data, using an adapter and usb 2 is much much faster.

even if your pc is in another room

1. convert all files to 44.1/16bit. i trust nothing but direct sampling and converted files. i don't care where the wav file samples come from, i still convert them joints and that's only if i choose not to manually sample them in.

2. i never drag more than i can chew. don't let your machine go thru long ass transfer periods.

3. save your shit and don't let your machine sit unused and powered on.

4. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP. BACK UP YOUR MACHINE.

5. Play nice with JJ OS.

6. do more sampling than dragging. the MPC is a sampler yo! i can appreciate the machine more by going thru more manual labor. makes you more passionate about your beats.

& 7. Check the lengths of your file names. If they are 'SOME LONG NAME SNARE' and 'SOME LONG NAME KICK' the MPC only reads 'SOME LONG NAME' bit and will keep loading in the wrong sample. So you may have to rename them all to 'SLN SNARE' etc. (I found that through bitter experience)

iTunes is very good for Batch converting samples to 44.1 16bit.

stop pre-creating programs. build programs with the MP.
