It's because of the People Under The Stairs album. Randomly throughout the album they just yell "this one's for me mum"! Funny as hell! I've been saying it around the house as well!

I was watching this inspirational video at work today. It made me think about the Akai brand...the new direction MPCs are heading, your marketing, the open communication in the forums, and seriously taking in feedback from your consumer base.

I believe you can accomplish something special here with these new products. Here is the inspirational video that I hope will have a positive effect on the Akai developers and testing team...as well as MPC Forum members:

If it was a MPK Renaissance, do you think the hype will be at this stage as it is now. For me, no but with the almighty MPC name slapped on it, is like pouring syrup on shit but Akai says its pancakes.

Ahh, young grasshoppa learn to type!

Much easier to read! But yeah, we've been throwing ideas at Dan and Andy from Akai for the last two weeks and they seem to be taking our ideas and requests seriously. If they learned anything from NI and Maschine, they'd listen. Obviously they ain't gonna be able to provide every single request we give them, especially not in the first release. But hopefully we get all/most of the major necessities. I guess come summer we will see!

Dear Akai MPC forum:
I was goofing off at work today (as usual) and I thought to myself: has making music made me and the world a better place to live in, or has technology and the 24 hr interconnectivity made "real music" (the style that was popular when we were all 18-23 years old) so rare that the counterfeit sounds have flooded our ears and driven "real music" out of the marketplace of ideas? Then, all of the sudden, I had epiphany, a real and genuine "aha" moment, and had to immediately come down to the quorum, I mean forum and express myself in the most succinct manner as possible...
Attention, all producers, musicians, DJ's, and sound guys: Please remember that in the greater scheme of things, music doesn't matter. There's a civil war being fought somewhere, starving children are dying, the oceans are being raped, and the super-rich, the billionaires boys club sleep very soundly at night on their mattresses stuffed full of money...
If you are serious about music like I am, you have more than likely spent tens of thousands of dollars on music toys, and thousands of hours playing and learning how to work your toys. You have no doubt have had songs or ideas stolen, ripped off, or never paid for. You have met dozens of flaky artists, wannabe singers and rappers, as well as thieving "managers, booking agents, music industry scumbags". Not to mention the ill-informed, clueless and superior minded GUITAR CENTER employees, who are burned out music majors and talentless hacks in comparison to you. And yet, we soldier on, and for what may I ask?
The time we have spent is gone forever, and the money, we could have done other things with. If a company decides to release an inferior product, word will spread. There is no company, however well spoken of, that has not fallen to the trap of selling cheap crap for more money. Think of 2% milk. All it consist of is regular milk, watered down, and yet they sell it for the same price, if not more, because it is "healthier" for you.
If this MPC line turns out to be watered down 2% powdered funk-in-box-with-look-at-me-light-up-pads, WE will be the only ones that know or even care...
What's the solution? Take a walk, hug your kids, travel, meet people who practice other art forms, heck, even reading a book will teach us more about real life than staring at a computer screen, tapping on keys and pads...call me crazy...GTG, my boss is coming...
