Renaissance Vs. Maschine

First post.

I'm definitely liking the look of the MPC Renaissance. It's been a few years since I let my MPC 2000 go and started working with Guru and the pads on my Korg Kontrol - does the job well enough but with horrible, computer-driven workflow. An MPD wouldn't add anything significant to make workflow better

So for a while been eyeing the NI Maschine but wished it was even more of an MPC clone as I'm getting bored of learning tools more than making tunes. Been eyeing a MPC 2500SE but then I can see how pure hardware's kinda past its sell by date given what a Maschine/DAW + powerful laptop can do.

So, yeah, what I want is a 'Maschine' that works like a 2012 version of an MPC 2000. Looks like Akai have come good.

What does this function do? (Pure out of curiosity) Like some sort of 'Nudge' function?

ps. I've been using Maschine for over a year now and the workflow is very fast, but...the sequencer man!! I never had so much trouble in my life getting used to a sequencer. Although i totally understand the sequencer and i make beats with it everyday, i just don't like it. PERIOD. This is one of the main things that keeps me dragging back to my MPC.

On the other hand, i love the VSTi ability of Maschine and the stock sounds are pretty neat too! I keep going back and forth between a MPC and Maschine. Some functions i like better on the MPC and some on Maschine.

Last but not least...it would be freakin' awesome if we wouldn't HAVE to use a PC with the MPC-Ren

Those are my opinions, at the end of the day: I just love both and i'm more curious then ever to see what time will bring us :)

Yep, quantize and nudge tick(s) earlier or later.

1. It quantizes the notes, but it makes them slightly earlier or slightly later. So a Kick might hit on the 01:01:02 instead of directly on the 01:01:00. And you can adjust the amount of earliness or lateness. Keeps your drums on time, but without that stiff quantized feel.

2. Same here! Hopefully Ren will give us the best of both!

Cool thanks for pointing out, that's exactly what i like. I not to big on 'swing' it just doesn't always give me that feel i'm looking for and i like to have more control over my own 'swing', but earliness/lateness seems like the perfect match for me.

no matter what it'll keep pushing both sides to try & out-do each other

as soon as you can import synths n all that into the ren then i'll get excited cause i really like the look of the ren & the software looks heaps dardy!

plus they need to come out with a really impressive drum library like the maschine has
