Actually number keys is one of features I miss from the mpc that maschine doesn't have. And using it along side step editor is a given for nudging and placement of notes.

They have to keep the numbers keys are we really would be stuck on a computer keyboard and screen.

Yeah, the keyboard saves Maschine in the numbers keypad area. Lack of a number pad was the second thing I hated most about my 1000.

:) I knew it was coming. It really is true they can't please everyone. These are more preference things and not deal breakers. Overall I think the layout is nice though. Still think a duplicate button would be dope.

Pad copy will be added to pad assign as a shift function.

I agree with you on the duplicate button and talked with Dan already in an different thread which he added using if I remember right would be Pad assign and shift to toggle the function on and off akin to the MV8800.

I do like the maschine and use it just us both coming from the 4k (I still use time to time) the numbers keys are connected with step editor which I really miss for editing midi timing, midi note lengths, and exact loop points. I am avid logic user too but even it's step editor isn't as user friendly as an mpc's. Besides we will have the best of both worlds with dedicated number keyboard layout is who wanted an extensive hardware surface and the function of a computer keyboard for actually naming the samples, tracks, and parts. o(^▽^)o

Wow that was fast just as I was typing it in.

1. By the way it the Ren going to be using APS system like 2500 or Multis like the 4K I forgot if you mentioned this before?

2. Can you load samples in as the sequence is playing?

3. Will the Ren have a program matrix?

4. Will the 16 levels function like the older 3k modulate filter, pitch, volume, and start?

@xparis001

Will u be able to change the startpoint of ALL samples in a program at once? Like in the 4K ?

Will U be able to change the range of the QLINK TRIGGER MODE? so it not just full or zero?

Will the timestrech and pitchshift be insert effects? or apply effects?

You didn't understand the point I was making did you?

Right handers (90% of us) tend to have our decks on the right of the MPC. That's not universal obviously, but in my case I'm so right handed, if I tried skimming through records with my left hand I would end up trashing all my vinyl!

So my point is that the layout in regards to actually taking samples heavily favours lefties, who as you say are the minority.

They also have 2 buttons labelled "Song"... Since when did song mode become this fandango feature that MPC users are constantly using??!

You or I won't lose sleep over it Lamp, but as it stands they have created an MPC with the most awkward placement of buttons to jump in and out of the sample screen. A fundamental design error IMO.

Actually it is very good layout akin to the 3K and 4k although both have dedicated sample mode button that you use the keys to go through the menus. As a ex 2xl user it did take me a minute to get use to the 4k and later 3k layout but mostly it was fine to use as I have various modes of thinking at each phrase of the process.

However as a 4k and 3k user I do love dedicated buttons, I had a 1k before and tested a 25k along with the 5k and the shift menu buttons can be a bit say confusing for someone like me not staring at the small print.

That's my point.

And yes, the general layout is very good, but the one mode you are likely to use with only a single hand on the MP shouldn't favour a left handed user.

Hmmm all well I'm still getting my unit as it will sample as other mpcs more akin to mpc 2500.

I actually prefer to sample into my sample editor first and then transfer into the mpc.

I can't put toothpaste on my toothbrush with my right hand. It just feels so weird for some reason. I have no idea why!

I still put it on with my right then swap hands!

One of my mates is ambidextrous and can do virtually everything with either hand. Must be such a bonus!
