No matter which MPC you currently use, you will most likely have to adjust to the new MPC like every other MPC before it. The workflow of every MPC is different and its impossible to cater to ever MPC user.

For MPC 2000XL users, the control surface in on the left and pads to the right. The MPC Ren is the opposite. Adjustments like these will have to be made.

And yes, the general layout is very good, but the one mode you are likely to use with only a single hand on the MP shouldn't favour a left handed user.

Using the MPC 4000 and the 3000 in the same sentence implies they perform the same way but they don't. The MPC 4000 gives you one button access to sampling. The MPC 3000 has a Program/Sounds button which gives you a menu. Then you press the "Sample new sound" button within that menu to sample. But I get your point. You like to do everything with one hand.

Will there be possible to convert a sound from stereo to mono like in the 2000XL?



Also, will you release any footage of your meeting with Q-Tip, Just Blaze at some point?

I know you know where I'm coming from with this. 2 buttons for Song and a fat zero for sampling... on a sampler. Crazy.

strictly on a personal level, I loved the 2000xl layout, but then again, I'm left handed. I realize I'm a minority.

I loved the layout of the XL and I'm (if it wasn't already obvious) right handed.

The designers totally nailed the layout to not hinder either hand, and the concept of using the shift functions was ergonomically well though out. Every button press could be made with a combination of either index, middle or thumb. At no point did you have to use a pinkie to press a button.

Wondering how it would work. So would you hit pad assign then hold shift + source pad then destination pads?

Also, how hard would it be to make a global preference for input quantize? It would be nice to turn it off so it stays off regardless of t.c. settings for real time recording. On the recent MPC's it is easy to forget it is on then you have to redo a good take that was ruined by being quantized.

Dan, is it possible to get rid of the little plastic "island" the q-link knobs are mounted in and just have them coming right through the metal casing?

Do you have any idea of how Sonivox is going to figure into the Ren/Studio software development?

Yup...I still use an MPC 2000XL to this day. I honestly can't really say which MPC layout I like the best. The MPC Ren layout is a good compromise taking into all account all MPC users.

Do you have any idea of how Sonivox is going to figure into the Ren/Studio software development?

My thread about Sonivox and the MPC Ren was moved to another section of the forum to die a slow death. I am really thinking about the possibilities of Sonivox products influencing the development of the MPC Ren.
