installed new lcd screen, now problems, please help

Ok so I was excited to get my package today...watched the tutorials and installed my new lcd screen step by step with the video. I go to turn on the mpc and to my delight I see the MPCSTUFF spare parts screen, but then....a blank screen...I turn it off then on..still a blank screen....I turn it off and back on again and this time the start up screen came on but was stuck on "detecting memory"...i turned ot off and back on...back to the blanks screen...with only one light on which is the bank A light...WHAT COuld Be the problem???

Which MPC do you have, MPC 2000 or MPC 2000XL?

Have you checked to make sure the memory and all internal connectors are properly seated?

Have you put back in the original display to see if the issue goes away?

I have the 2000xl and no I have not put the old unit in to see if I still have the problem. To much for me to deal with while being pissed. J should mention I also swapped out the 8 outs card. The old one had static in two of the outs. I doubt changing it would have caused a problem. I am hoping that it's a simple "something is loose" type of thing.

The effort to put the 8 out in has more potential for causing problems than the display.

You need to go back and verify all connections and routing of cables that you messed with while inside the MPC.

be scientific about this - do it one piece at a time.

since the display works up until the mpc boots, im going to assume it's ok (if you really want to be thorough, you shouldn't).

now take out the 8 outs and all your memory.

now turn the machine on.
does it work? (if this step fails, go back further and put the old lcd back in)

now re-install the memory.
now turn the machine on.
does it work?

now re-install the 8 outs.
now turn the machine on.
does it work?

see what i mean? do one thing at a time to determine when the problem occurs. my guess is that you will either fix the problem, or you plugged the 8outs in backwards - there is a recent thread here in the 2kxl section about 8 outs blowing up resistors if installed incorrectly.

I'm not going to be able to get to it until later (kids) but I'm feeling like I may have not put a wire or two back tightly..the 8 out swap wasn't hard because I had one in there already and just put the newer in the same way. But uh, imma check all three things. Perhaps my memory was knocked loose. I dunno but I am gonna figure it out

Have you tried shift+moving of the data wheel? Maybe your screen is too light?

Not that it's hard but there is potential for disruption.

Thanks again for your responses. It seems I must have knocked something loose. I simply went in and made sure all connections were tight. The ONU thing that seemed a bit loase was The 8 outs. All is well now...time to get enjoy reasumí my screen again!!!

Yeah, "blank screen" issues are always, always, always problems with connections in the MPC. If you get the boot screen and any active display data, the LCD is working.

The beat counter updates properly if you advance with the job wheel, correct? I can see where it might be distracting while running as it's not "on cue" exactly. As a musician myself, this is somewhat annoying, but it is being updated in the MPC and stops being an issue if you're doing click-by-click editing.
