Numark acquires Sonivox: positive impact on the MPC Ren

Numark has acquired music software specialist, Sonivox - a cutting-edge software company that focuses on developing premium virtual instruments and synthesis technologies for musicians, composers and producers.

Founded in 1993, Sonivox has designed and developed music software technologies and applications for desktop and laptop computers as well as mobile devices.

Sonivox’s main areas of development include a retail line of premium virtual instruments for musicians, composers and producers, and its Embedded Audio System, a full featured audio synthesis solution for mobile applications and devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android devices and other embedded architectures.

In addition to the continued development of a lineup of Sonivox-branded software products, the group’s brands, including Numark, Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional and ION Audio, will be bringing products to market that directly leverage Sonivox’s experience in soundware and software development.

Wow, for real? Sampla, Playa, Pulse, AllegroBoom, Reaggation, etc. Guitar Center even sells the entire line for dirt cheap compared to purchasing each module seperately. And, the sound sets are more than decent. Should be a 'butter' line up of addtional fodder for the new and existing MPC line.

I was an early purchaser of each piece of software in the now "Playa Producer" pack and each was $99.00 bucks seperately. You can now get those same five sound sets in one box for just $199.00 !!!

Not a 'highly' but def recommended pick up. Maybe Akai through select retailers will have a special "and 1" pricing for this software when the Ren and Studio line drop 8).

A bit of overzealous moderating. Lol

This was in the MPC Ren Forum. Sonivox doesn't produce hardware. The resources of Sonivox could have a big impact to the further development of the MPC Ren software.

They were known as Sonic Reality previously. While their VST's aren't overly impressive they do make quality sounds. If anyone ever used the Sonic Refill Gold series for Reason that was them, quality stuff.

If the Renaissance is to come with a library the size of Maschine's this acquisition is likely for the sourcing of those sounds.

You don't need to look any further than this to see why Akai bought them. The sounds are an added bonus though.

No Sonivox used to be Sonic Implants.

Before their playa series, they were primarily sample library developers. They have upmarket sample libraries like their Symphonic Collection that compete with companies like VSL, Garritan, etc. Anyway, Sonivox does have good ideas with their software instruments; Sampla has redeeming qualities, its just just too oversimplified. I think the thing they will bring to the table more than anything will be a nice library of sounds.

Never heard of any of it. I've only really been into software production for the last year. I've used Reason and Pro Tools as sound modules over the years, but I've been mainly all MPC.
