Trouble Removing PCB Board

I'm trying to replace a few dead tact switches, which technically should be a really easy fix, but I opened up the case and am struggling to remove the ribbon cables from the sides of the PCB board, I'm worried I might cause some damage by pulling on the cable to hard. Does anyone know a good technique to do this? I feel like there is some kind of lock connecting the cable or something

I lever out the white ones with a screwdriver and pay attention to keeping it straight as I go. The Black ribbon ones are tricky. You must move black sleeve to open position. It slides out like 5mm then ribbon will come out. DO NOT try and remove ribbon unless the connector has been released.

you saved that MPC then? You definitely saved your self a fair bit of ka-ching for repair if you do it yourself, and that is always good.

yeah i put in a much more robust tact switch, however some shotty soldering at first caused the mpc to go into shock (boot block) i fixed it up though and am now very happy to be using my left cursor and shift button once again

yeah i am looking at more tact switches myself. Bootblock would have been a bit of a shock. Good to see you fixed the soldering and it fixed it. What switches did you use and how many cycles are they rated at?

Not sure about the specs on the ones I got, the button is a little shorter so you have to push them down a bit further. they have less of a click to them, more of a clunk sound if you know what I mean lol

yeah cool. I think that the tact switches I am getting are a million cycle rated. The cycles is the number I take note of. Meaning how many times the switch is designed to be used.

Oh, that makes sense. How much do those cost? I wonder how many cycles the akai ones are rated at .. 100 probably :S
